Hey guys, newbie here.

Why isn't there a Chilton's or Hayes manual for the 1969 Charger?

Well, all right! An original service manual from Chrysler will do the trick! Thanks White and Red 69 and tan top. Great reading material.  :popcrn:

I'm just figuring out where to start on this Charger, and this is going to be a great help. It looks like the manual references the Cornet often, but then mentions when the Charger would have differed from the Cornet specs. That's because the Charger and the Cornet were both B-bodies, right? So mainly the styling was different for the two?

Another question if you're still in this thread: What do you mean by "clone" cars? I've seen a number of threads describing clones—is that someone converting a regular 383 to a Daytona or something?

The B-Body cars all shared most of the same underpinnings (this includes Coronet, Belvedere, Satellite, Super Bee, Road Runner, GTX, and partially the Daytona and SUperbird - including the 4 doors). The major difference is in outside sheet metal and some interior components. Suspension, brakes, engines, wiring, steering and so on are all pretty much the same for all of them. Car with "performance" packages not only had bigger motors but the brakes, exhaust, and suspension were upgraded to match (but still the same stuff - just larger/beefier components).

Typically, a "clone" or "tribute" is taking a base model/low power car and upgrading it to look and/or perform like a more desirable or higher performance model. In the case of a Charger, it's usually taking a 318 or 383 "XP" model and swapping in a 440 and adding some badges and stripes.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.
