Are there any 14 inch Mopar factory steel wheels that are worth saving ?  :shruggy:

Some of my project cars are sitting on plain black steel 14 inch wheels, with petrified tires.

I have several sets of 15 inch cop car wheels, rallye wheels, other 15 inch steel wheels and a set of 15" Cragars(  :puke: ) sitting around taking up valuable real estate.

I'm planning on swapping the 15 inch wheels onto the projects and tossing all of the plain black steel 14 inchers.

Before I scrap them all...

Are there any 14 inch factory Mopar  ( plain black steel ) wheels worth saving ?

What wheels were used as spares on our cars when new ?

'66-'67 there are 14x5.5" steel HEMI wheels (different each year) that are desirable
'68-'69 there are 14x5.5" steel wheels that were standard on Chargers, 383 Road Runners, 383 Super Bees, 440 GTXs, & Coronet R/Ts
'70-'74 there are 14x6.0" steel wheels that were standard on most muscle car E & B - bodies
'67-'72('73?) there are 4" bolt pattern 14x5.5" steel wheels for the performance a-bodies

some are harder to find than others and values are all over the place (singles VS. sets), a matched set of 4 date coded '70 model year 14x6.0" wheels are pretty tough to find & therefore $$$

I'm glad you asked this. I too have my spare rim and tire that I have no use for. Wondering what to sell it for. Tire is worn, rim is still good. I guess if they aren't going for anything, I could gift it away

Is there some identifying marks ? date code? part number ? on these wheels?

Is there a website that gives this info ?

Classic Chambered Exhaust's web site could get you close, most dates are stamped around/near the valve stem hole.

for further clarification, post pics here

I'm keeping the 15's, Stuart. ;)

What about 14 x 5.5 Rallyes?

I am trying to decide whether to hang on to the set that my dad bought with the car?  I have switched to 15 inch repro versions of the same.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

I could use a 14" steel for a spare tire. That way I could stop using the 14" Crager SST from the set that was on the car when I bought it. But shipping is always a problem. I'm sure I could find one locally if I put my mind to it.

I'm also trying to sell a set of 14" Rallye's w/good tires I bought to get the car on the road a few years ago. It seems if you go by the prices at Carlisle they're worth a lot of $$$ but in reality not so much.

The short answer is yes. I get people asking for date coded 14's from time to time. Mostly from '69 to '71 and most for E-body's. There are sources out there to run down the part number and date codes to help determine if you have a desirable wheel as I'm sure you already know. But, even if not a desirable year, I don't think I'd just scrape them if in good shape. I'm sure somebody somewhere needs them, even if just for rollers.
