After replacing my carb, I've noticed that the 2-3 shift mph has changed on my 727. I do have a trans-go shift kit installed, but this was done prior to changing the carb. At light throttle it doesn't shift into 3rd gear until around 35-40 mph. Before the carb change it was shifting much sooner. Now I'm not complaining as I like the current shift pattern better, but I wasn't sure if it was considered "normal" (?)

ps- sometimes I pull the Charger out of the garage, grab a chair and a beer, and just stare at it  ;)

That sound about normal speed going in to those two gears. Other then that I am not sure about.

When I went from Thermoquad to a 750 Holley with the correct Holley linkage adapter  I had to adjust the kickdown rod (I know it's probably not the correct term for it) to get my shift points back to where I wanted it. I think most of the difference comes from when you go from the small primaries of the spreadbore to larger primaries of the squarebore carb or vise versa, the small primaries have to have more throttle shaft rotation to equal the airflow of the larger primaries so your throttle stud will move farther back comparitively.

2-3 shift should be 20 mph or less.

If it happened after a cab change, you probably need to adjust the linkage

Changing to an aftermarket carb requires the correct Mopar throttle lever extension to make the linkage work correctly. (Holley 20-7 or Edelbrock 1481)

Factory spec for light-throttle 2-3 upshift is under 20 mph.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I did buy and install the 20-7 throttle lever extension. Guess I may need to adjust, but then again I may just leave it as is for now.
Thanks for everybody's input

You probably just need to shorten the top rod.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.
