I have a 4 speed console with some holes drilled in the under dash area for what I presume was an aftermarket tach or something of the sort, so I am thinking about installing a factory console vacuum gauge I recently acquired to hide some of the asshatery.  My question is how exactly does this mount, I have most of the parts I think I am missing a spacer or some sort.

1) What holes need to be drilled out of the console top plate for the install?

2) what hardware is all required?

3) How does it all go together?

4) Why is there a spring involved?

I have everything in the attached picture.

I have the same vacuum gauge sitting by my computer right now  :2thumbs:

I was always going to put it in my 70 but never got around to it

I can't offer any help with the factory vacuum gauge, but I ended up fabbing my own gauge housing out of resin, that holds two autometer gauges. This was the first one I sort of threw together in a couple of hours, I'm gonna go back and make another one with a few changes.

I made a tab on each side that attaches it with Velcro for easy removal, without drilling any new holes.

Just throwing out some ideas. The gauges are very useful too.
