Ummm, no. I don't know about the Chevelle (and I'm too lazy to check) but you're not finding a 69 Mach 1 - except maybe a 351 2V auto - anywhere near the price of a 318 Charger. A base model fastback perhaps. My 70 (even in it's crappy condition) is valued at more than any of my Mopars except one. I was noticing the recent uptick in Mopar prices so I checked for 67-68 Mustang fastbacks and the prices have nearly doubled (even for base models) since I started looking.

Just under 40K ...  If one was to restore their own 318 car, it could wind up costing about the same(with metal/body/driveline build factored in).  I still agree with you, but that's pretty damn close...
