Let me guess---   The Kermit skin upholstery and avacado motif?  :slap:

I like how someone scrawled "CRG" on the build sheet like to say "yes. it really is supposed to be silver with a green interior".

Very interesting car.

I would have questioned it on the line, if I were the assembly man that day  :Twocents:

Considering the green shade in A4, and it being the era of earthy tones, this isn't all that surprising. I can't wait to turn my green interior to black though!

I would love to talk to the original owner and ask him why he chose that color combo. I'm lucky to have talked to the original owners of both my cars. I learned a lot from them. In the case of my triple green F3 car, he said he chose the color because he liked it. Upon arrival he removed the hubcaps and replaced with chrome reverse wheels and baby moons. When I got the car circa 1982, it had slots. He also said he wanted  A/C and a 4-spd with the 440 and Dodge said, he couldn't have both and would have to choose. He chose the 4-spd. Sweet! Also, he chose the 440 over the Hemi because he was afraid no one locally could work on the Hemi. He thought it was too exotic for where he lived (rural TN just north of Chattanooga).   I've been told how ugly my F3 car is since day one of ownership and that  should paint it red, black, orange with a flag, etc. But, we have a history together, so it will stay F3 Green.

Still, I'm not sure what was running through the mind of the original owner of the A4 car, that's not a normal combo one would think of with a Silver exterior.

Silver with green interior was actually a recommended color combination, see the page at the link below.

They recommended every color but tan? Who put that chart together? Homer Simpson?

Silver & green combinations exist in nature, there are several species of fish as an example.

The colors do not clash, but some peoples perceptions of them do?

It's funny how perceptions change. Today, on the Corvette, one can order silver over tan (Kalahari) interior.  And if you want wild combos, you can order those, too. But they require an RPO of D30, which is a $595 charge to "override" normal combos.   As I said, perceptions - and styles change over time.

Dino

They also didn't recommend cream exterior with red interior or yellow with tan...weird.

Homerr

I've always been perplexed why tan interior was not recommended with red/bright red exterior.

Come on!

Brock Lee

I like it! I wonder if the dash came out in the resto. Note green dash paint overspray on the VIN tag.

Sublime/Sixpack

Man, that car looks good in silver!
Green wouldn't have been my first (or second) choice for the interior but I could live with it. I don't remember seeing that combination before.

I could live with a green interior too, but only after I'd have to gouge my eyes out first.

How soon after you purchased your car did you gouge your eyes out?

;)

For all the Mopar green car & interior haters, just keep hating. It leaves more of them for me.

Thanks TA

After reading this chart could you imagine rolling up on a bronze 69 Charger with green interior.

Has that color combo been documented?

Sorry for the slight hi-jack.

68RT440

I don't mind the green guts. I personally wouldn't have ordered my car the way it was ordered from the factory, but I think it will be wild when its done being black with green vinyl top/interior.
1968 Charger R/T, matching numbers 440/727, black with green top and interior, currently getting restored by me

ws23rt

I'm going back in history thinking about how I felt about colors then.  I have to honestly say that in the day when I was in the market for the car I wanted-- the exterior color was primary.  I liked the plum crazy that the dealer showed me as what I could have in the -next- years models. (green interior would not been my choice to go with purple :eek2:)

My choice at that time was the F8 green.

The dealer had me by my 19 year old nuts and sold me my orange superbee.----That he just happend to have in stock.

I today have what I would have ordered that day in 1969.----A 69 hemi coronet 4sp F8 green with green int.. :nana:

BTW --The car I have today is as nice as it is because it is not the one I would have liked to have ordered at the time. If it was it would be a mess from use/abuse. ;)

Their is 50k on the mile clock and NO rust issues.  I'm having a do over with this car.

Alaskan_TA

F8 with green guts is a favorite of mine also. Especially if it has 4 doors & a three speed stick.  ;)

69rtse4spd

Put a green top on that car & it could almost be a twin to one of mine. Bought from the original owner, but with a 383 4-spd, no air or power steering & 8-track. One more thing no wood grain on the dash. Buddy posted Pict's of it under funny or strange thing happened walking into work, I believe. Strange color combo on mine but will not see another one like it, when I get around to it, one day.
