Yesterday (7/23/16),  myself and Charlie Keel (CDR) took the shourt trip from his home in Katy Tx. to a place called The Hemi Hideout for an open house they put on.  We had a great time and it was very nice to meet Charlie, and ride in that beast of a Charger he owns! Ice cold A?C in it also was a very big plus in our SE Texas heat right now.  Here are a few pics from the trip.

It was great to meet Charlie and to ride in his beast of a '68 Charger.  I cannot believe how cold his A/C is in the Charger with just a compressor change!  All stock unit other than the compressor!
We had a very nice time out there and hope to see Charlie again soon!

It is not open to the public.  You either have to go with a group, or call them and setup a time to view.

Charlie where was my invite :scratchchin:

charge69

Hey Guys, I know you are just kidding Charlie but, he posted about going there a few months ago and I just asked him to see if he could arrange a visit. This was about 2 weeks ago. He called them and he said they were having an open house the next Saturday (7/23) and we could go then.

There was a large car club gathering there and the place was buzzing with people and attendants to guide you to a parking place around the building. Lots of food and snacks were set out so we (mostly I) helped ourselves!

Charlie introduced me to the owner of the place who was a very nice man and we just walked around the place a took in all the nice MOPARS there, taking pics of a few.

No charge to get in but a "donation" jar is setup to help defray expenses ($5 is plenty) and wander around the place at your convenience!   I got to meet Charlie (CDR) for the first time and see and ride in his Charger as well as tour the Hemi Hideout!  All around an awesome day!

moparnation74

No kidding, either forgot due to my age but I don't recall that posting....but next time pm me if you go again....

charge69

Absolutely no problem letting you know, moparnation74.  I didn't realize you live in the Houston area.  I live in Spring but Charlie lives in Katy, just about 15 minutes from there. (Brookshire area).  I just asked him what was involved in going out there and he called and found out about the "open house" the next Saturday and was invited by the owner (Mr. Hovas) to come on out then.  Awesome spread of food and awesome collection of MOPARS.

North Dallas here, Carl but would jump.on the chance to come down and see the Houston brothers :2thumbs:

charge69

North Dallas area is a ways from here!  It takes me about 50 minutes to drive to Charlie's home in Katy from my place in Spring, north Houston area. Then only about 15 minutes to the Hemi Hideout in Brookshire.   I don't drive my Charger to Charlie's as I take my truck there. If you really wanted to go there, we could meet at my home to get a look at Ole' Red and then go to Charlie's place to finish the journey to the Hideout! I would also love to see your Charger also.

You would be welcome to stop by anytime you are in the area!  Charlie hasn't seen my Charger in person yet and might want to come over here before going also!

Just let us know and Charlie will try to set up a visit to the Hideout for us. I would be happy to go again.

the money jar was for donations for Charities in the area, John matches the money in the jar, the flooding a few months ago was devastating.

No worries on the distance me and the Mrs are travelers...sounds like a good plan and would never pass up the chance to see ole red....maybe when it cools off we can get together and plan something...and possibly get more guys involved too...

I agree on the "wait until it cools off" plan and anyone who wants to join us is welcome! There are a couple more members from the general Houston area and they are certainly invited.

I'd give it a go, I'm in Victoria, about 126 miles away. I'm pretty sure my car will make the drive. it made a trip that was 66 miles then made it back home the next day.
