How to Drop 70 Steering Column??

Folks,

I'm trying to remove my instrument cluster to troubleshoot gauges and reinstall my speedo cable. I've read a few detailed posts related to the instrument cluster removal and am stuck on the "drop steering column" step. Can someone explain how to drop the steering column enough to remove the instrument cluster? What bolts do I need to loosen? Pics would be a great help.

I've had the car a few years, but am learning how to maintain them as issues arise.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I had this picture  for a question related to another matter.  Once you get under the dash it will be pretty obvious.  There are three bolts nuts (close to the area in the green squares) that need to be loosened or removed.  The steering wheel will drop under its own weight and then stop.  Also cover the steering wheel with a towel when pulling the cluster out because the cluster can scratch the top of it when you pull it out.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Thanks. Looks simple. I'll give it a try.

That diagram will just confuse you.  There are 3 nuts (the ones with the square, white plastic spacers) that hold the steering column to the dash assembly and 4 bolts that hold the steering column were it goes through the firewall.  Remove all those and the column will drop right down.  PS you may need to disconnect the ground wire also.
