Why is this a "joke"?  The guy has TWO hemi wing cars for sale.  He has them listed as a pair for 1.4 mil.  Hell yeah that's a lot of money but is there a "Barrett-Jackson" type buyer who has 700k a piece to drop on them?  Maybe there is.  The owners name is Greg and he runs the Mopar Ponderosa.  Go to his web site.  He is pretty successful at selling Mopars for pretty high prices.  He runs in a different circle than most of the people on this site ( I'm included so that is not to put anyone down in any way).  Just the reality,  he runs around with multi-millionaires and some of those people have a different monetary scale than those of us who work for much more "normal" incomes.

Wow what a sweet pair of cars.   :coolgleamA:

It's interesting to hear about average daytona prices being near or over $100,000.

So --a car that sells for 900K vs one that only brings 500K must have 400 thousand dollars of --extra-- attraction. :scratchchin:

but that was a very low mile car with all of it's original drivetrain if I remember....

Individually what would be reasonable values for these?

A 4-speed hemi daytona in excellent condition (better than this one by far) brought $625,000 at Mecum in Houston in April. Tim Wellborn's perfect hemi 4-speed went for $900k last year. I think the automatic would be less, but the hemi is so rare and there so few who knows? Condition says good but I see rust in left rear quarter, so what do you think? $ $600k?

As for the hemi superbird, there were 135 built and I think 58 were 4 speeds. He has this one listed on Hemmings at $799,000. There are 2 automatic hemis on Hemmings at $300k. Mecum sold one in Houston (hemi 4 speed) in April for $480,000. I'm thinking maybe it's worth that?

So based on prior sales he looks high but not totally nuts. I've been collecting my change for 20 years in pickle jars, I bet I've got close to this if I check the back seat too. Wow-I went into this analysis thinking he was nuts but the comps are pretty darn close.

appears to me that a bunch of you are forgetting how low production these cars are. Daytona street cars 503 hemi 4 speed about 30. my aston martin DB5 1052 built average driver quality car worth over a million. my car is "in hiding" but I still get asked to sell about once every three months. my point is that these cars should be selling for more than many of them do. and yet basket case un documented example get over $100K 440/4 speed
if it was easy anyone could do it

joining the list my cars group
69 Daytona
70 superbird
66 charger
60 corvette
63 corvette split window
tesla S
96 bronco
10 aston DBS
64 DB5
59 custom cpe deville

GTD40
32 roadster and coupe
62 nova57 chev 210 hard top

One has to remember it is an asking price.   Yes, it is a high asking price.   But it is starting point.     These cars have been advertised in a similar manner before.      Frankly, it is hard to sell these as a pair.     As top of the heap as the Superbird is,  you and I know which car will have the most demand.

taxspeaker

thanks CRJ for the ash tray offer. I have also drawn up a sign and will be standing on the corner tonight "Will work for Hemi Daytona".

Even less than that since this number is derived from a 30 yr old reference that stated approx. 70 were built in total. This number was based on an approximation that a certain percentage of total were hemi powered.

When the ACTUAL shipping list surfaced years later, only 37 hemis were built, that is it.

Surprisingly, only a handful have perished.

Maybe 30 left on the planet, that is it.
