How much is involved to make this car streetable again?

It must be very hard to sell a race car. Re listed on Ebay several times, price dropped, and still for sale. I have never owned a race car.  Undecided

It's not that hard to sell a racecar.  The hard part is accepting the huge financial loss you'll take.

If the project is a rust bucket 318 car that needs everything replaced, you are correct. But if it's an original multi-carb or wing car that was bought right, it's possible that money can be made.

Buying right is the key most instances. Years ago in my youth I always drove junk. I worked in a dirty steel mill in the midwest. Rust devoured cars back then. I would look for cars that had very little rust, buy the car, make some repairs, drive for a year and then sell it. I usually had two or three cars around just to make sure one of them would get me to work. Back then when I would be looking for a car to buy, some were in need of more repairs than they were worth. Which to me were not worth even $1. They had no value, should go to the recycler for $50. That was the norm when looking at "troubled" cars.

I wonder how much $$ the owner of that 68 Sat has in right now? Has to be way more than $20K. If that is a fresh Indy motor what would that cost? $15k alone maybe? As a whole that car is worth way less than the sum of it's parts.

Id start by repainting it a different color and getting rid of that heinous snorkel hood.

You're right it's possible.  But that kind of resto isn't really the normal thing in the hobby.  

Today it's considered a good find to hit a decent complete solid car with a 318 VIN.

3000 lbs is damn light for that car, even with an alloy motor.  I wonder how he did it. 

It looks like a fiberglass front bumper & hood.

It has a throttle stop feature that lets the pedal go 2/3 of the way to the floor !!
