:o  As my 2 cars have no airbags I haven't paid much attention. My Florida Dept. of Consumer Affairs monthly letter strongly advises everyone to check twice yearly for recalls of their airbag equipped autos and trucks. It goes on to list what looks like every manufacturer selling in the USA. 8 million fixed so 52 million more to go?

The big mystery is how does Takata, the air bag manufacturer, afford to stay in business with 52 million recalls?

Dollars to doughnuts the taxpayer bails them out.

Well all I can tell ya is get your crap fixed before they go under, 8 million beat ya so far. (Yer new airbags have gone up in price already.)

My Charger is too new and my Tacoma is too old to be affected. Nothing else that I own has any safety equipment... ;)

And defective ones are still being produced by them & installed on new cars.

I even heard on the radio the other day that some of the replacement airbags are also defective.

WTF?!?!?!?!

What is the profit margin? If they can replace 20 airbags off the profit of one, it wouldn't be a problem at all.

Thanks for the reminder. My Cummins needs air bag and tie rod work.

TAK is based in Japan, "WE" won't bail them out. (Just pay more later.)

We circumvented free market capitalism in '09 and you don't think we would buy everyone a new air bag just because it's a Japanese company???

Our 2010 Challenger still no parts available according to the dealer.  :brickwall:

Had the drivers side bag in my '05 Magnum recalled/replaced last year.  The wifes '02 CR-V had both driver/passenger bags done also.
Here is the updated NHTSA site to check on recalls. Uses your VIN to lookup recalls https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/vinLookup

In the USA they would take it out of the employees' and shareholders' money.

Dang. I opened this thread hoping it was about politicians.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you when you rode into the Carlisle show with me that my 2004 Ram is on the recall list. The pillow on the back seat is not for my daughter when she wants to take a nap, you're supposed to hold it in front of you to keep the shrapnel out of your face when the passenger side airbag goes off.
