I've always liked the 2nd gen Charger (among other Mopars) and realize life is short, we get one shot at it and Chargers will always be pricey.  So I hope to use this post for advice and comments on cars I'm looking to buy

I've found this one, though it's far away I'd get it inspected but thought I'd see if anyone on the forum is familiar with it.  It's a 318 car that's been painted.  Ad does not say much about it so before I contact the seller thought I'd see if he's a member or anyone knows this car.  Thanks.

It's not an R/T and not a big block but I'd rather a solid body over a big block

I'm also trying to get in touch with an old timer that I found once with about six or seven 2nd gen plus more 3rd gen Chargers sitting in his field.  He wasn't selling 4 years ago.

Nice looking car, desirable color.

Good luck!

Be prepared to love them and then feel liking shooting someone from the annoying stuff you will run into. Also be prepared that it will never be a good (like new) car (one without problems) until you invest 80,000+ into it to change everything over so that it is headache free.

Other than that, you are very lucky to have gotten a black one.. wow.

Get the body work checked really well. Lot people just wanting to flip these cars doing shoddy repairs and painting them.

I think I saw that Charger listed on craigslist and it looked like they painted (rather than replaced) the vinyl top to make it black.

Yes, that's what worries me the most.  Thanks to this forum I know some of the trickier areas to check for:  lower rear valence, inner wheel wells and firewall along with the regular floors, trunk, rockers, frame rails Dutchman panel area.

Yes it was.  It looks like they dyed, painted the roof so I will find out for sure.  I realize this could be a bad thing if rust is under the roof?   Any other reasons?  What if the roof is in good shape.

Good advice G-man.  I've owned old cars before and they make me miss a new car eventually, lol.  I hear ya on the 80K thing, that's why I'm hoping a non R/T car will be a cheaper entry point so I can fix the annoying things that come up.  Man, good R/T's are expensive!

How much are they asking?

They are asking $25,000, sorry I forgot to mention. But other than the obvious new paint and wheels, I do not know much about it yet. He does say he is selling due to not having time for it but was built to keep.  Superficially so far does not seem like a quick flipper.

70 sublime

At $25000 if you take too long some one else will own it
That seems like a good price if the bottom of the car is in good shape
