Don't know if this is useful, but...

I went through the video, I paused it as fast as I could as he was moving the camera...

Certain things show up that would not be seen due to the speed of the camera moving past certain areas...

Provided arrows for easy viewing.

Also as mentioned earlier... the right hand rear quarter looks crap.

For a car claiming immaculate, restored, "Alot of money went into this car".

Wouldn't offer any more than 25,000 for that. 50,000 Guys a dreamer or waiting for some complete Moron to rip off.

:2thumbs: true , more you look study the video , more you  see ,   that &  what Cody spotted the broken dash bezel etc  ,  this car is not looking good imo  at least for the money ,  think there are a more than a couple of surprises under the shiny paint , unless the the metal is arrow straight & bondo free  & its just poor prep & blocking of high build primer   :sarcasmalert:

having said all this  , buy the sounds of the used car salesman  , sounds like a mechanically sorted car ,  so if the car could be had for a more reasonable price & you don't mind having body work re  done   :shruggy:  .....

First of all I cant say how grateful I am that I'm a member in this forum, I wouldn't have noticed the things mentioned and also as I dont have that much knowledge about chargers. I was under the impression based on the reviews I've read about this dealer that they are straight up guys without any issues. A deposit had been paid which is non refundable and inspection has been ordered based on the facts I've been told that this is a fully restored car without any rust, bondo, straight body and mechanically great. Thanks big time for pointing out a couple of points that shows other than what the dealer had mentioned.

I'm rushing into buying a charger which seems to be a bad thing as I'm losing money on inspections and deposits here and there for not so good cars. I will wait and take my time longer and hopefully find a great car in the future.

I've been searching the web for a couple of weeks now and didnt find anything worth buying, please if you came across a good charger for sale pm me or if you know of a great straight up dealer that is known for his honesty I could contact to search a charger for me that would also be great.

Last thing as a lot of you guys mentioned that the car is way overpriced can you please give an idea of what prices these cars should be in. My ultimate charger that i would want to buy would be a 1968 charger, R/T 440 engine or stroked 440, manual transmission, restored without any rust bondo, dana 60 rear end, non vinyl top and in good condition mechanically etc.

Thanks again and the hunt for a 68 charger continues.

GTSilver,

This forum is great place to be a member. Wasn't for the forum I wouldn't of ended up with 3 Chargers (all sold now).  :RantExplode:

But in all seriousness, 440ci 68 Charger R/T, Dana 60 etc... good condition...

$35,000.

Now let me know when and where you find it.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

hemi-hampton

Black with Red Interior sounds much better then the red it has now.  LEON.

Here's a nice real R/T # matching solid California car, sold for $42k.   LEON.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Dodge-Charger-RT-/231921824598?forcerrptr=true&hash=item35ff9e3356%3Ag%3ApzoAAOSwaGtXEUa-&item=231921824598&nma=true&si=hVQ8o1V7JyGDGezU17WwCzFKFlY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

This seems to be in a good price range and yes although a true R/T but the other car has a new diff, paint job, interior, rebuilt engine and trans etc dont you think its better ? Even maybe with the body alignment issues as I've seen other cars restored that opt for the one piece rear valance maybe its a preference.  A true R/T was worth the difference back then but after 40+ years and with the aftermarket support you can make any car better than a R/T in terms of performance, thats my opinion.

And yes I've noticed that they listed the car on ebay while i was searching for others dont know why although a deposit had been paid.

Yousif

All depends on opinion. in the old days original #'s matching cars always got more then non original clones. then one day some one got as much for a clone as a real car because buyer did not care & it seems to be going that way ever since. For me I'd pay 50% or more for a real car over a clone. For example: a 68 Charger 318 car now with a 1974 non hi po 440 station wagon motor & R/T emblems & stripe. = $20k. OR a real #'s matching 440 hi po 68 Charger R/T in same condition $30k+. To some clone or #'s don't matter & they pay as much as the real thing. I wouldn't but just my opinion. To me more original is worth more or outweighs a newer upgrades or shinier paint car. LEON.

Looks like the rust is starting up already, another 2-3 years probably be falling apart? LEON.

GTSilver

Well I just got my inspection that I requested for the charger. You guys were correct the car has bondo in a couple of places, right and left fender edges, pinch seams of doors, rockers and quarters. It has been in an accident previously. Some rust inside the trunk. There was cross-contamination coolant in the oil. Bondo in the wheel wells. Rear bumper mis-aligned. This is all based on the inspection report I received.

So the car is totally not what was advertised in the ad and the video of the car. The car was listed on ebay while I already had a deposit paid last Friday and was removed although the maximum it reached was in the range of $35K.

When i called to discuss the inspection with the salesman he went nuts stating the that this company which I used and the inspector that inspected the car always states bad things about the cars and that he is an a**hole etc. I informed him that the inspector is already paid and he has no gain to lie in his report or claim false things and if thats the case why not escalate it with the inspection company if that was the case which I doubt it is. So I told him simply the rear valance of the car has bondo as its not divided as per the pics that you guys have shared and informed me with but still he refuses that the car has bondo and that the dealership owner is at Mopar car show were chargers are around 60-70K so i'm getting this for a bargain and I dont waste this opportunity as he already has 2 buyers that are waiting inline to get the car and that it was nearly sold at ebay, although it didnt get more than $36k.

Although when I called yesterday asking if the inspection had taken place he told me yes and that the inspector had told him that it was the nicest charger he ever saw and never seen an inspector that happy with a car. So you are seeing where this is going as the salesman isnt honest per say with his replies.

When I paid the deposit it was due to the info in the video of the car and ad which states no bondo whatsoever. The deposit was a non refundable and I was fine with that based on the info that i got. However with the inspection showing the opposite what the dealer stated I requested my deposit to be refunded hoping that the dealer is decent enough to refund my money based on the incorrect info he provided.

I'll inform you guys how things will turn around next week when the dealership owner gets back.

Now on the hunt for a 68 charger continues and thanks again for helping me seeing things, this forum has been resourceful with info and I appreciate being a member in it.

Thanks
Yousif

I hate to say I told you so but seen this coming, all you have to say is Muscle car dealer & 9 out of 10 this will be the result. Tell the guy good, let the other buyers buy it, you don't want it. What kind of person puts a car up on ebay to sell after taking a deposit & a selling transaction in progress, That tells you what kind of scammer he is just by doing that. That aint right. :brickwall: :slap: Buy from anyone but a dealer, they make money selling overpriced perfume on a pig & target rich unknowledgeable people. :brickwall: :brickwall:

You and other members were right. Thank you all. My only mistake is that I rushed into paying the deposit based on the info he provided before posting it here to have your feedback. I'll be posting any future car here i'm interested in before pursuing buying it.  I'd love to buy the car from an individual and not a dealer but me being 5000 miles away that will be difficult to buy it thus the need for a dealer or I'll have to search if there are any companies that will be able to buy a car on my behalf and they do the process this way both me and the seller will be confident in the transaction.  Do you most of members here buy their cars from individuals or are there others that bought from dealers ? If so would you mind recommending them to me.

Also dealers market their cars well thus they are seen. I've been checking the cars for sale section in this forum and another. But the majority are listed at dealers in other car sales websites (hemmings, car-on-line etc) .

Thanks again for your feedback highly appreciated.
Yousif

I had my car on Cars on line & I'm not a dealer. I'd look there from a Individual not a flipper or dealer. If you Find one in Detroit area I'll personally Inspect myself to help you out. Good Luck. LEON.

GTSilver

Appreciate it again Leon. Thanks
