Just wondering, I just saw this on DVD, (missed it in the theatres) & I loved it! Very true to the original, but updated where it needed to be (visual effects etc.) Jack Black was great and so was the main lady. Both the first & this one were great, the 1976 Jessica lange one I thought kind of sucked. Any opinions?

I thought it was really well-done too.  Better than I expected.

The end scene on the top of the Empire State building was so impressive because Peter Jackson actually made me care, even though that scene is a total pop-culture icon and everyone knows what happens.

I mean, that's like trying to remake Empire Strikes Back:  How can you possibly reshoot the "Luke, I am your father" scene and still keep the emotional impact it originally had?

They coulda cut some time out of the new "King Kong," though.  Maybe 1/2 hour shorter would have been nice.

It's been so long since I've seen the other older versions, I could hardly remember the specifics. Overall, it was better than I expected it to be & one I'd watch again.
Surprisingly, the females in the room had the heebie-jeebies from the sicko tribe people...whereas I thought all those huge bugs would have done them in. :smilielol: They were also crying at the end, because "they were mean to Kong". ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

It was amazing!!!  I've already watched it twice at home....it's a must have in your video library :yesnod:
The tribe people were pretty wild...so life like...great acting all around...and yes I almost (read that...ALMOST) cried at the end...something I never did with the original version  :icon_smile_wink:

terrible one

I saw it in theatres. It was a lot better than I had expected.

I didn't think Jackson could pull it off. The original is a cult classic and I thought he was feeling a bit big after the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I was really amazed at what he did. Mind you the CGI played a large part to pass off Kong's emotions, but still, a superb effort.

A bit too long for a "Kong" movie but great effects over-all. Yes, far better than the Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lang stinker.
