8 3/4 rear end breather vent tube

Just rebuilding the brakes on the rear end of my car
Ordered the flex line that goes to the 8 3/4 rear end and come to notice the flex that is on the car is just going to the top of the rear end into the brass splitter

Oh crap I seem to remember there should be a vent on the rear end that the brass splitter goes over
Did some looking and found the hole but no vent tube

Question  Does this tube just screw in if I can find another one or just press in ?

I will have to see if there is a busted piece still in the hole that I will have to get out some how

Well it was busted off in the hole but I did manage to get the short piece to back out with an easy out

Now that you know the vent was open have you checked for contamination inside?

When in photobucket click on the 'direct' link and it will copy the link to the clipboard.

Then on this site when replying, click the icon that looks like a picture in a frame (below the 'I' icon) and it will put up some {img} tags (in square brackets), just copy the URL between them.

Well anyways I found the hole
Got the short piece out
Found another vent to fill the hole

Yes there was a hole in my rear axel tube that could have let some junk in but at this point I am just going to hope for the best
Car was driven half way across the country and then parked almost 30 years ago in a shed so if anything bad could happen it already has

ps I think what i was doing wrong on the picture thing was when I went to copy into the blinking bracket I moved the mouse a little and it was no longer between the bracket
