ok. So in the local bone yard theres a 68 satellite 4 door. The trans cross member on it has the little basket hanging off the front that holds the trans mount.  Is that the same cross member as a 70 4 speed roadrunner?? And also. The bolts that hold it in. Are they the same as a 70? r

The '70 is similar to the '68, the bolt spacing is the same but the '70 uses 3/8" bolts to hold the crossmember to the body while the '68 uses 1/2" bolts.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

thanks for the info. dam.... I would have to weld up the holes and redrill them for 3/8 bolts... :(

A lot of people would just put the 3/8" bolts in the 1/2" holes with a larger OD washer.

That 68 automatic crossmember will only work on a 70 B-Body with a 4-speed if you are using a 70 B-Body 4-speed trans tail extension housing. If you have a tail housing on your trans from a 69 or earlier model it won't work, the trans mount bolting location that is cast into the housing is at a different location on a 70 trans than 69 and earlier. The exception being is if you happen to be lucky enough to have one of the change-over tail housings like i once had because it had provisions for both mounting positions cast into it
