This car popped up on my local craigslist. 1968 Coronet 4 speed 318 from Mexico. He says it has different numbers on it since it is from there. Anyone ever heard of anything like this before? Going to try and look at it this weekend, I'm interested in it because it's a 4 speed car which I've been looking for.

They must have been deep into the bottle when they chose that interior color!

I agree kind of steep, but make an offer... who knows. Good luck.

Did they make 318/4 speeds from the factory?

I agree 15k is pretty steep for a 318 car

Also if it is a factory 318 4 speed would it be the standard 833 trans?

I am always amazed at how many people cannot spell a name that is clearly visible on an emblem.
Coronet.

Well, you probably are dealing with a Mexican.

Yeah,  I always see a lot of Cameros for sale. ;D

Says it's a 440 car with a 318 in it

MoparMotel

I thought it was a Coronet 440 model, not engine. If it is a 440 car would it be a coronet r/t?

To me it looks like the 500 model because of the chrome trim on the 1/4 scoop indentations. The 318 came as a 3 speed manual but not a 4 spd in this car. I say someone just switched out the 3spd with a 4 spd. LEON.

the model / trim / engine & transmission / option combos "WE" got here in the US may have little to do  with the models sold in MEXICO

MEXICO had early '70s a-body Super Bees 318 4bbl 4-spd w/consoles & hood tachs

Yes. One can find 318 four speeds through the years. They are not common but they are out there.
I ran across a 69 Dart 318 four speed car last month at a local show.

Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Get pics of the Fender tag. LEON.

I'll get pics when I go to look at it, been trying to reach the owner since Friday his phone is turned off and hasn't responded.

440 would be the model. Although the side scoops dont look like a 440 model's. :scratchchin: Also the side trim looks aftermarket as well. It does have the correct tail light valance for a 440 model(or 500?). Looks like some body work was done to this thing. Also missing the corner turn signal lights up on the fenders( I think this was an option). Also missing the "440" emblems at the rear corners.

Yes, it would be the 833 trans which with the correct bell housing will bolt up to a 383/440. Probably a 8.25" rear end as well if its a small block car.

It also is sporting the Rallye dash which I think only came in the R/T's and 500's. Definitely not the 440.

I know all this since my car was a 440 car before the R/T badging went on it.

6bblgt

for the US spec. '68 Coronet:
the "rallye dash" was STANDARD on the Super Bee & OPTIONAL on Coronet R/T (that's all)

Yes but don't forget this car was from Mexico. The option choices were were giving in the US and Canada can be completely different than in the US :D

That being said too, those options you talk about might have been customized when some shop did the car for SOL.
