Gaskets on order, Cool carb heat shield on-order and also picked up a Edelbrock DP4B to  swap out cast the iron intake while I'm at it

Hopefully you ordered the Felpro 1214 intake gasket that blocks the heat crossover  ;)

I like the DP4B upgrade  :2thumbs:

You will like the cool carb spacers. Great guy, been to his house many times. Between the spacer, 1214 pan, and aluminum intake, it will be like a new car.

Installed on coolcarb on my 440 and carb temp went down about 20 degrees.

I had good results when I was running an Edey carb with the vapor return filter Ron mentioned. 3/8 in and out with a 1/4in return line to the tank. (CARQUEST #86041 I think)  Also used an Edey heat spacer  and insulate the fuel lines. Intake heat blocked helps too as mentioned.

Try a different brand of fuel. Sometimes helps.

I'm curious.  Will coolcarb spacers work better than phenolic ones?  Thanks.  : )

Oh there's a question, I already have that phenolic spacer on now will the cool carb think replace it or should I leave it on?

I ditched the standard phenolic for the coolcarb. Coolcarb runs cooler then standard phenolic did and is thinner. Only reason you would need the additional spacer is if your intake wasnt enough for your motor's needs.

Sorry for the delay guys...between the new gasket/intake and cool carb spacer problem is solved...'72 is in work now!

That's awesome!! Glad you had some good luck with all the change's. I am a huge fan of the cool carb tech spacer kits, even with my heat crossover blocked and me running a holley carb I still was fighting fuel boiling issues. After installing the cool carb kit and re routing my fuel line mine has been 99% cured of all it's hot start issues.  :2thumbs:

Another Oldie...sorry fixing all my photo related threads. I did the '72 as well and it's fine...so the answer for the loading up/vapor lock problem

- Intake gasket with heat risers capped
- Cool carb Spacer

Both are completely normal now!

;)
