I am doing a 69 Charger and it has the turn signal lights in the hood. They are corroded and shot so I was looking around and see that they are repoped at around 250 bucks for the two tiny lights. I think that is just over the top for gotcha parts. Well here is a tip to file away. My lights were intact but the bulbs and sockets were corroded to junk. The way these are built the bulb twists into a metal socket on the wire and then the socket/bulb is pushed into the pot metal housing with the lens on top. You can take a punch and tap the socket straight out of the housing. Then after searching everything that I had, I stumbled onto the socket on the ignition key light. It is exactly the same. It slides into a metal tube above the key and has a blue plastic cap on the tube. These key lights are pretty much the same on 68 -69 A, B, C bodies, Dodge and Plymouth so there is lots of availability. I checked my parts hoard and had several junk wiring harnesses with that socket and bulb on them in like new condition since they have lived under dashes. They slide in the turn signal housing perfect and "ta-da" new functioning turn signal lights.

Would be nice to see all these great tips compiled into one "How to" manual. :Twocents:

No need to buy the whole turn signal kits, you can buy the sockets with the wiring for $40.

There are two plastic light sockets under the console of G-body Daytonas that will also serve as functional replacements.

I used led strips also. Got mine from www.oznium.com

Love em.

I didn't bother with putting an original lens over them. One day I'll get around to tinting them black with VHT Nightshades though, so theyll blend in better.

I love em. 20 bucks for two LED strips beats 250 or whatever the reproduced assemblies cost. My car never had hood indicators, so I consider it a cheap upgrade.
