Does anyone own a rechargeable weed wacker? I am considering getting one. I am tired of dealing with issues with gas powered weed wackers every time I want to trim the grass.
I am looking at the EGO brand weed wacker. Does anyone own one? How do you like it? Is there another brand you would recommend?

We have a small battery Black and Decker weed wacker

I just used it the other day and was surprised how long the battery lasted when it had not been charged up since last fall

Ours only has 1 string out the bottom not 2
it is a little slow compared to the gas one we have but a lot simpler just to grab it and go
With the electric it is something you would want to keep the grass trimmed all the time and not let it get ahead of you as the older grass is thicker and takes more to knock it down

I picked up a Kobalt 80 volt from Lowes last fall on sale and have used it a couple times this year.  It works really well and the battery last a few hours before it needs recharging.

I've been looking into one as well & considered the Ryobi because I already have 4 of the lithium batteries for my cordless tools. It will be good that I wouldn't have to worry about running out of power. I did notice that the spools look tiny so they probably won't hold much line & will need to be refilled constantly.

I have basically given up on cordless anything. Plug in power cord stuff is cheap and always outperforms 10 to 1 at a fraction of of the cost.  :scratchchin: (Even without considering battery life/replacement.)

Little late to the party,   I have a ego 56v  from when home depot blew them out for 45.00,   its last years 12inch version,   I love it.  I have a 1 acre lot and i would guess 300-350 feet of trimming it lasts 2-3 uses before it needs charging.  its quiet  and unlike 2 stroke weedwackers it starts every time,  I liked it so much i grabbed their blower too,   the blower wont push wet leaves but will blow the mower off and clear the driveway.

the wacker is not a commercial piece but for joe homeowner its perfect,

On the topic of cordless appliances, I just have to say how impressed I am with my new black and Decker cordless chainsaw! Phenomenal product for light work around the yard, and in fact had made short work of cutting down 3 8-10 inch caliper trees I needed gone. And no worries about the gas, oil, noise....

We have a Worx and I was really happy with it.  It's actually our second Worx, we bought one probably 5-6 years ago and it worked great, but when the Ni Cad batteries took a dump it cost more to buy two new ones than it did to buy a new trimmer with the Lithium Ion batteries.  It won't "mow" like our gas one with the .095 cord will, that one can chew through stuff as thick as your thumb but for my yard person that won't run the gas one (the wife) the Worx is great.

Even though the EGO line is produced by Chervon, a Chinese company, the reviews about the EGO line of products are pretty good.  If they meet your need and price they look to be a good line. Going with the 56v setup allows you to be able to use the same battery on their mower, blower, hedge trimmer and the grass trimmer.
I like battery powered yard equipment if you have a smaller lot and/or have an attached garage where you may not want to store cans of gas. My lot is too small to have an outside shed to store gas. I have been using an older 6v Toro trimmer and a B&D 24v mower. While both are older 2000 technology, not having to drag around a power cord or store gas in my attached garage is an advantage. I have never been displeased with going with battery power.
Whether you go with EGO, Worx, Ryobi, etc. stick with the same line of tools so that you can use the same battery pack and charger for all your battery powered yard implements. My  :Twocents:.
