Really disappointed in year One's door handles and mirrors

After finally getting the general Running Ive been cruising all weekend and remembered some problems I've been needing to fix. I don't know how many times I've had to take the door panel part to tighten up the pushbutton on my driver side handle. within a  few times of using it it usually comes loose.  I payed  top dollar from year One and waited for months for the doorhandles and mirror. they look great but they come loose and I had to modify the rod on the pushbutton just to get them to work. The mirror is the other issue.  that thing flops around in the wind and I'm worried it's going to come off while I'm going down the road. It's a 68 mirror.  do they have the ability to tighten the mirror itself.  one guy suggested putting windshield gasket glue in the ball to keep it in place.  It's pretty sad that the doorhandles and mirror from 1968 outperform the brand-new pieces I got from year One. I would use them if they weren't so rotted and rusted.  if anybody has any tips on tightening that mirror let me know thanks guys

I've been told there is nothing wrong with aftermarket parts, they work great :scratchchin: :shruggy:

I got a buddy with a 70 duster and the same mirror issue.  He was told to put some super glue in the ball socket.  It worked.  He can still move it some, but it stays put.

Never tried it, just passing that along.

A ball socket pivoting mirror that was designed right would have a tightness adjustment inside it somewhere.

I was talking about this with my friend the other day - does anyone make a generic aftermarket classic-looking round chrome mirror that is well made?  You can get the AutoZone-type rickety plastic ones for $20 but they don't hold up.

It seems like there would be some market for it these days.  Lots of guys don't want to dump $400 into a couple of mirrors.  Especially when that big money doesn't even buy decent function & durability.

A couple of years back I went to a mopar show at year one and I know a guy that works there that helped me with a new flip top cap and trim ring. He brought one up to the counter and I didn't really take a good look at it but he said let me go get another one so in a few mins he brought like 3 or 4 more up to the counter and showed me all the imperfections and said to pick the best one. I thought that was odd that so many different ones had several different scratches or blemishes and we found one that looked really good so I bought that one. The trim ring didn't fit my quarter panel at all and the panel hasn't been changed at the fuel filler tube and is factory but the trim ring didn't fit at all. I wound up using my factory trim ring and putting the new cap on it which looks pretty good. Sad we have to deal with these chinese no fit parts...
