i'm in the process of purchasing this car and I was wondering if it is worth the 7500 he wants.  It a 69 Charger 383 Hi po 4 barrel, 4 speed manual, the engine and trans both work, but will need rebuilt.  The car also comes with the hood and a new trunk pan as well as a few other parts.  The interior is tore up pretty bad, but fixable in my opinion.  let me know what you all think

Fender tag?  Everything looks pretty straight on it and inerior is chump change in my opinion.  Got any more pictures. What's the history on the car???

A factory383 4spd car with matching #'s, and it's a complete car with a basically solid frame?

Yeah, it's $7500 allright.

Buy it it's worth and from your username suggest you are looking at building another orange charger and slapping a huge confederate flag on the roof and are going to start looking for a brush bar.

PLEASE restore it to a nice state and PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE DO NOT TURN IT INTO ANOTHER GENERAL LEE CLONE :nono:

lord knows there are way to fricken many of those things in the world, if you can't resist buying the orange paint and the confederate flag sticker then I'll buy it from you at double what you are paying for it.

Oh and welcome to the site

No, I agree with above post.  I WILL NOT turn this into a general lee.  It is to be restored to factory specs, maybe tweak up the hp in the motor, haven't decided, but even though i am a fan of the orginal dukes of hazzard and the general, I would not do that to such a hard car to find.  I don't have any other photos that i could post, the other ones i have are on prints not digital and are quite blurry, the film got a little sunlight when someone changed it.

Heres the vin: XP29H9B251479
Let me know what this vin says the car is.

Thanks

What about the fender tag codes?

Plain jane just like I like em.  Make a good Dukes car, don't listen to them other guys, you can always repaint it when you get old.  But for now, grease it up and pick up some chicks.
I should know I have one, but wait, I'm already old.
Good luck

I don't currently have the fender codes, i'll get them when i see him next.  I'm planning on buying this car if i can get a loan from my bank.  The guy just sold a 68 440 from 7000, i believe it was numbers matching as well, but was missing the hood and the headlight doors as well as having a little more metal work that would have to be done.  The guy is located in texas.

You're alot braver than I am. Dropping 15K on that car?  :o  That's a 5K car tops in it's current condition (IMO), but I'm all for keeping the market low.  :Twocents:

mikepmcs

maybe a 70 might be worth that in that condition but a 69 383 NOM.  Come on give us a little bit more than that.

better watch it, you'tr thinking with your heart now. Can't say I blame you. And where are the pics of gramps '66?
Dave

dukeboy_318

I've only seen the car in person, no photos just yet, the guy wants about 1500 for it.  Will post when i get some.  I know i'm pretty stupid for passing up that 69 383 4spd.  This 66 is aslo numbers matching and 383 4 spd, its mostly complete, missing a few interior parts such as the guage cluster, but totally restorable.  Besides, it would cost me a fortune to ship that 69 from 6 hours southwest of dallas tx, heck its a 19 hour drive to dallas from here in indiana.  plus, i couldn't pick it up until aug sometime and the guy was going to charge me 10 dollars a day to hold the car there.  And yes, i am unfortuneatly thinking of sentimental value not monetary value.

sentimental value is worth more than anything else in my opinion (9 out of 10 times anyway)...if i could find my dads 67 charger i'd trade my 72 for it in a heartbeat...

Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Dad never had any muscle mopars, but he had a black 2 door '56 New Yorker I'd love to find for him. Is your Grandpa still around? Be great if he was and to see the look on his face when you pull in the drive with it.

Dave

dukeboy_318

Yep, he's still around, actually he is retiring from farming in a year so it would be awesome to see him driving his old car, the car that i've heard about every holiday and every time i bring up the old muscle car period.  An old 383 4spd charger.  so yeah i can't wait to see his face.  He's on vacation in Dallas TX right now visiting my aunt.
