Bought a 1969 Charger Survivor

How many finds do you have. ?  Not fair 

There are still quite a few cool cars out there to be bought, but it takes a lot of effort and persistence to find a car and pin a deal down. I've decided that there are very few good deals on ebay/craigslist. By the time it makes it to one of those sites, it's too late. For the most part, I refuse to travel more then an hour from my hometown because I've wasted a lot of time and been disappointed too often. You just have to talk to EVERYBODY local and ask the same questions over and over and over. You need to build up some cash and have it ready. When I look at a car, I show up with cash and a trailer! On a couple of the cars I own, I've worked on owners gently (but often) for several years!

Very true, the online deals are ultra rare.  I found a 69 Charger in 2013 on Craigslist, solid car in storage for years for $12,000.  By fluke I was the first caller as the ad had just gone up.  I was assured the car was as described (ex father son project - the father was selling it) and we made a deal on the phone that I'd buy it if all was true. 

But the car was on another property that he had to get it off and it was being towed to the owners house in a couple days where I could view it.  The owner did not feel comfortable with me going to see it on the property that was not his so I had to wait.  After two days I called him back and he apologetically informed me the tow truck driver he hired to move the car saw it and bought it on the spot.  It's been 3 years, I never found another one.

I've had a few deals go this way too. It's pretty discouraging but keep your head up. I don't even bother looking at CL anymore because I can't react fast enough with a full time job, kids, etc. Keep asking everyone you know over and over....

Our fifth baby arrived Friday March 24th. Her first ride was in the survivor 69 Charger....of course! My amazing wife and daughter are doing well.

Corrective measures have since been taken!
But my grandpa used to say that his 6 kids were his best investments. My theory is that with 5 maybe one of them will take me in when I'm old!

I have not planned that far out! I don't go to many car shows since extra time on the weekends is pretty hard to find with five kids/job/etc. it's getting harder and harder to find time for tinkering on my stuff! I may have to check it out though. Plus Joe's KC is right there...a hear a Z-man sandwich calling my name...

Looks great. I had the same color combo but on a '70. I'm surprised the vinyl top is in such good shape. No rust lumps underneath it?

I did find out that the vinyl top was replaced in about 1982.

Love the rear shot with the lights on, those great tail lights are one of the coolest features of the 69/70 Chargers. Cool license plate too!
