68 tail lights, 69 stripe delete R/T badge with still having the 69 R/T stripe, 70 front bumper, Corvette flares, donk tire/wheels all adds up to.........

:puke: :puke: :puke:

But I will still go see the movie.

The car in the side shot must not have a drivetrain inside.  They would have it sitting lower down in front.

The 68 taillights (on Vinnie's 1970 car) were probably done because the 68 lights are more of a "euro" Ferarri-style look.  Rally racers are a euro thing.

F&F is the highest-earning movie series that Universal Studios currently has.  They just opened a big 3D "F&F Ride" thing on their studio backlot tour.  Like it or not these movies aren't going anywhere.  They are probably brainstorming #9 and #10 right now.

If this series has not convinced Dodge to build a modern 2nd-gen then nothing will.

Mike DC

Wait, that's not a missing drivetrain.  That's their counterweighted rear end rig for doing wheelies.

They pile several hundred pounds of ballast weight onto the back and then digitally erase it the final footage.
(It looks much better than using hydraulic wheelie-bars underneath like in F&F #1.)

The only good thing on it is the door skin, the rest is ugly.I like camaros, corvettes as well just not all mixed together Frankenstein style. Can't understand who and why come up with something like this. This isn't cool looking at all :shruggy:

Any guesses on how they destroy it this time?

For the record, the Charger's been barrel rolled, t boned, drove into a cave wall, drove into a bridge, and drove off a mountain.

They should do something novel and let it survive...

:yesnod:

Now there's an unexpected twist.

1965gp

I remember seeng the charger they were using in 7 with the off road stance and being disgusted- saw the movie and loved it.

I agree with the thought that this helps promote the hobby to the younger generations. My kids like my GL and Grand National because they have seen them in these movies.

myk

There is that point to consider.   What many old timers and critics of the Fast franchise don't remember is that these movies highlight and celebrate muscle cars as being the ultimate road machines.  Bad points aside, I think the Fast franchise helps cars like ours more than it hurts our sensibilities...

I think they already did  :shruggy:
You can't destroy it any more as that is not a charger any longer!!!

crj1968

I don't know. I think certain cars can stand on their own without being in flicks.

The movies use them because they are already "the car"

They couldn't take a Chevette and make everyone want one. Amiright?

phantom

Looks like they stole the grille-design from the Tantrum-Charger  :scratchchin:

Looks like it would be a lot of fun to be part of the production team.

The Charger is already a classic without the movies, but so is a '49 Merc or a '55/57 Chevy or a '39/40 Ford.  Kids aren't into the ones I just named like they used to be.  The movie exposure is still crucial to keeping a car as cool as Chargers have stayed.

The fact is, these movies would have a high status in our hobby if they had came out 45 years ago.  You can't tell me that F&F doesn't have sensible storylines but DMCL or Vanishing Point does.  Nor can you say the old movies didn't needlessly destroy cars either.  (They used to destroy a complete car once.  Now they destroy about 1/4th of a car 4 times.  The total loss isn't so different.)

Baldwinvette77

I appreciate these movies, in an era where teenagers want hybrids, and to plant trees in parking lots, its nice to have a movie series that still runs on fossil fuel and deforestation  :hack:

chargerman69

There will be 2 more movies still to come,  They said it before they planned to make 10 movies

We live in a world where teenagers would rather have the latest phone over a nice ride. This generation needs all the help it can get....
