Intermittent 727 leak?

A couple months ago I went out to my garage and there was a bunch of tranny fluid under my car. Hard to say how much, as it spreads so thin but a spot about 2'x2' wide.  I had previously replaced the shaft seals and dipstick o-ring, pan gasket and I am dry there.

Looked like it came out of the front bell.

Then it never really happened again. a small drop here and there but nothing major.

Last week same thing. Went to garage and big pool underneath. The puddle was shaped so it could have come from my power steering box...but I don't see any major leak there either.

I have taken the car out nearly daily and driven it around, driven it hard...no leak again. (?)  I thought maybe position of the converter when parking (but I see no drain plug on it).

A venting issue?   :shruggy:

Thanks yet again !

You need to pinpoint where the fluid is coming from when it drips, then find the source.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks John....It's coming out of the bell housing. I don't have a dust shield on there right now so it's easy to tell.

So front seal intermittent? Seems unlikely......or some other weirdness?

Thanks

You may not see a drain plug but it's there.  You need to bump the engine over a bit till the drain plug appears.  I don't remember seeing one leak.  But the front tranny seal is there so maybe   :shruggy:

OK I will look again for the drain. I've got the factory small converter from a roadrunner...I wasn't sure if they all had drains or not.  THX!

will

I had one that appeared there, it turned out it was from one of the cooler line fittings. Wicked right along the bottom until it hit casting seam and dripped.
