Getting dangerously close to painting my car, getting the final details in order. Does anyone know if the think black plastic gasket that goes between the end of the quarter and the L shaped end cap gets painted?  Actually it would just be the edge of it as it will be squashed between the two.  I bought brand new ones and was thinking of putting my old ones on (cleaned up) when the car is painted, then taking them off and putting my new ones on.

what has anyone else done here? Small detail, but they all add up.  As always, the feedback from this forum is always appreciated.  :yesnod:

I painted the end of the quarter and the inside of the end cap, then installed them on the car before final paint. I was able to re-use my old seals as well, they were in good shape. I would either paint them separate from the car and install later or have them installed before paint. I would not take them off after final painting is done to change gaskets as you run the risk of peeling/chipping the new paint.

A gasket goes in there? Are we talking about the 68-70 Charger? Mine had "dum-dum" in there, a non hardening sealant.

Yes sir! Doesn't look like it does much though.
