I'm pretty sure early build 70s didn't have cutouts, it was a midyear change. My 70 was built August 69, still has its original trunk and never had the cutouts.

That said, I don't know the build date of this particular 70.

When I talked to him he only gave me the first seven. I then asked him though IF the full vin was XS29V0G258252 because I was "wondering if it was my dad's old car". He never replied.

He stated he only owned the car for about 4 months whether that was true or not.

The guy selling it on craigslist may not have known it was a 318 car with a V code VIN on it.  

But...

The guy that sold it to him is the guy that swapped the VIN onto the 318 car.
