Charger jack

Tweaking the final details on my fully restored 68 and one of the last detail items I am missing is the jack for my car. In the reading I've done I realize they are hard to find and expensive but I guess I will start my hunt for one.

Was the original jack a bumper lift jack? And also, is there a more conman Mopar jack out there that will do the job for less money while I hunt down an original?

68 to 70 Charger only, nothing else will work or look correctly...and yes, it's a bumper lift style, though I would never trust it

68-70 Charger jacks are model specific. 

Key identifying areas are the solid triangular post and the non-removable flat jacking pad attached to the jacking mechanism.

They are also date coded (if you want to really anal....I'd be happy just to find one that didnt cost your first born )

Mine is there for show.  I keep a small scissor-style jack in my tool box from a newer vehicle in case....

good question , I've never seen a original in real life , only pictures on here !  I bought a repop one from year one  , like the one in the picture  , then a few years later read up on here , its incorrect ,  there are some pictures on here of originals  , (cant find as of yet )  the distance between A & B  in the picture below is greater , maybe  twice / three times more . reason being is , the bulging body panels of a second generation . 
   I await to be corrected on any of this

I have an original in my 69C500 now.  When I had my 68 with the original jack a guy offered me $500 cash on the spot,.  My wife was pissed when I said no thanks.  She didn't believe me when I said it would cost $700 or more to replace.  Crazy

It's been rumored that the 68s did not have date coded bumper jacks.  

I was fortunate enough that my 68 had the original jack in it when I bought the Charger and it has no date code.

Moparstuart made a 68-70 jack that looked pretty good.  There was a thread on her years ago.

Tony D'Agnostino proprietor of  Tony's Parts in Delaware is now offering repro jack hooks for A,B,E bodies, with hopefully repro jacks around the corner, he has said if the program goes forward, 68-70 Charger jack assys were to be included in the line up hopefully under $350 as per my conversation on moparts with him

Does anyone have a picture of the jack in action?  Just curious to see, as the term "Bumper Jack" scares the crap out of me with our cars.

Many moons ago (late 90s) I already had my car, but it didn't have it's jack baseplate & they weren't easy to find or cheap even then. I was marketing an Army Corps of Engineers contract to a bunch of Air Force Bases in Oklahoma and Texas when I drove past a junkyard near Enid, Oklahoma that had a Bronze '68 R/T Coronet sitting out where I could see it. I was in a suit and tie (having just left the airbase contract office, Tinker, I believe), but I didn't let that stop me. The owner thought I was completely nuts because it was late-June... and in that heat I nearly wrecked my clothes, but I got a proper baseplate from that car for something like $5. The paint and sticker on it were almost perfect. I don't think the jack would of worked for a Charger, but the baseplate did!
