Well the only other info I got on the Hemi was, the seller pulled it out of a 70 Newport someone dropped it in. He does have a 440 six-pack motor & 4-spd he is keeping.

Now that is interesting.  Many hemi's were pulled from young cars back then --but to put one in a 70 Newport is different.

I have one of the many complete cars that were tossed at the time for the engine. (69 coronet hemi rt).  The impulse for the hemi at that time must have been stronger then I remember. :o

30K for a 426 ?.  Not here.

It is not just the price of a Hemi engine you have to consider.   Any ass hat can get a Hemi engine built that has eight spark plugs in the valve covers.   It's the carbs, the exhaust manifolds, the valve covers, all the little parts that get expensive if you have to have "the right engine" for a particular application.    I am not suggesting 30k is at all a good deal.   Considering there is almost zero factual information given in the original post other than someone sold an engine, it's hard to make a comment other than, "it's a lot of money".

I guess I am a ass hat, but still can't afford a 426 Hemi.

Neither can I.   But without knowing the particulars of the engine (supposedly) sold, it's pointless to say it's a good or bad deal, other than, yeah, a lot of money.

You already have one! :2thumbs:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

That is kinda cool.  :2thumbs: Especially if it is a 1951 engine.  As I recall (and please do correct me as needed) that is the first year for the chrysler hemi ?

A note for the chevy hot rodders ----It might be tough to make this look like a small block chev. engine. :shruggy:

Not up on 426 stampings, but anyone else see something amiss in those last 3 digits?
Same here...the stamping on that pad is/are a mess!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

That is kind of messy.  I have a hemi block that is stamped  1-6-70 but no other lettering. :shruggy:
I guess mine is a service block?

Way off course of a 426.  :Twocents:

This may be off course of a "426 hemi" but everything has a beginning.

The combustion chamber shape that describes  hemi goes back much further in history.

The 51 hemi is the first v8 of that (hemi) design that (I am aware) was made for use in cars.

For me the REAL hemi was the 392.  --Only 2 years production and it made a statement that (IMO) led in a large part to the 426. (which BTW is not a true hemi (technically speeking)). --- We don't call the 426 a simi hemi    (which would be more correct)

The word "hemi" these days has morphed  a long way over time.  :slap:

What?  Like someone missed with the stamp and tried punching it a second time?
