What's your favorite fast food burger?

So what is your favorite fast food burger? We just got a Culvers "Butter Burger" here, not too bad but costly and as made to order a bit slow. Steak and Shake is my winner around here with the best bang for your 4 bucks.
As I pull back from my old style of eating, a fast food meal has become more of a treat then a mainstay so I've gotten more picky! We even have the only Biff Burger left on the planet here not to far from me, they cater to the car and bike crowd and are packed on most weekends.

Whataburger, of course.  Burger King is all right, along with Carl's Jr/Hardees.  Don't really like Wendy's.  Tried In-N-Out to see what all the fuss was about......turned out to be a glorified McDonald's.

chargerbr549

Used  to be the Baconater from Wendys then the 1/3 angus burger came out at McDonalds and that was my favorite until they quit making it, I think the five guys burger is pretty righteous.

But they are actually quite a few locations all over SoCal (and Vegas, I think)

I used to love the Five Guys burgers until they opened Mooyah. They are, by far, better than 5 guys or smashburger. I wouldn't even mention mass produced products. I went to the mcnugget factory once, I will never eat at mcdonalds.

I am not crazy about 5 guys. It is like making a burger at home.

Culvers is pretty good. I like their sourdough burger. My current favorite is in a restaurant at the casino I work in called "Hops House 99". They have this burger called "The Beer Billy BBQ Burger" with gouda cheese, BBQ sauce and bacon that makes my mouth water just thinking about....

BrianShaughnessy

5 Guys and Hardees...   I like trying whatever seasonal burger Hardees puts out.    The tex-mex was really good and so is the moonshine burger they have out now.    Even the deal with the hot dog and the chips on it was a delicious mess :)

For a fresh burger at a great price.. In-N-Out, but, you have to come to Pasadena, last of the Original In-N-Outs, a very Seasoned grille..

Plus, they have cool bumper stickers.

First is the new sticker on the Dart. Second is the one I put on my Charger in 81 or 82. They were printed with In-N-Out Burger, Quality you can taste. I changed mine to In-N-Out Urge, Quality you can Feel. (Yes, it looked a lot better back then)

This needs to be narrowed down to only the "major" fast food chains (McDs, BK, Carls/Hardees, Wendys, Jack in The Box) that are all over the country so that we all have the same point of reference.

Otherwise all of us Cali guys are going to go w In N Out or Tommys, the midwest guys with Whattaburger,  and the North East guys w White Castle.

In-N-Out. Animal style, light lettuce hold the pickle, with a whole grilled onion.

A close second was the Jack in the Box "Hot Mess". OMG it was so good. They even made a music video!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgDTdiotDSc

See? Thats what I mean. Im assuming Jack is a nationwide thing, apparently its not. Meanwhile Ive never heard of Culvers.

We gotta stick to the big chains, otherwise its impossible to make a good comparison. Of course your local mom and pop has the best burger in the world as far as youre concerned, but knowing that does me no good if im 2500 miles away.

So, between McDs, BK, Carls/Hardees, and Wendys...whos got the best?

In this case it's Wendy's hands down!!

Im partial to Carls/Hardees burgers. Theyre charbroiled (albeit fake) and tend to be heftier than the others.

BK is decent, but although their patties are also charbroiled, the burgers overall tend to be too ketchuppy and mayo- heavy.

McDs is generally "heh". The Big Mac is decent, but its all bc of the secret sauce. Everything else just tastes like cheese. For sheer simplicity tho, its basic cheeseburger/hamburgers win. Theyre just too small. If they made them 2x the size they are now, sales would go through the roof.

Very, very different burger.

Yes, they are everywhere.......but are individually owned and operated.

Unless you are suggesting they are available from a chain-outlet?  :shruggy:  :scratchchin:

It's been my experience that chains vary a lot.....BK especially. Wendy's seems to be good the most consistently.....but not really any thing close to a good local place. Takes longer, but better.

Yes it is.   Remember that Lebowski is 18 years ago.  In-N-Out had maybe 40 restaurants back then, just in SoCal, now probably 350 and spreading across the West.

Haven't tried either Flip Daddys or culvers and need to for sure. Put that on the list for the weekend. I heard they are good... Yeah you have to go at the right time for Terry's Turf for sure. I used to work about ten minutes away from Terry's turf years ago which made it easy to pick the right time.
