I once offered money for a set of wheel rims on a burned-up 70's GM van hulk that was sitting on cinder blocks in a trailer park.

The guy actually told me "I gonna fix it back up" with a straight face.

Ask again.  Hopefully after 8 years something has changed.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

I've shown this car before...but here it is again, in case anyone wants to see it again. ;D

I first noticed this car sitting right here in 1983...the pic is from 2004. The owner wouldn't sell, so there it sat.
I drove by last fall & the damned car was gone & the house had been sold.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Hey CF, that reminds me of how I got a 68 Cougar. My friend bought a house, and there was a 68 Cougar in front of it. He was told to have it taken to the junk yard by the former owner of the house. Knowing I liked old cars, he called me and I towed it home. Its now parked on my dads ranch doing exactly what it was doing before I picked it up... collecting dust.
Knowing how the world works, I bet there is a ford guy out there with that 68 Charger sitting behind his shop collecting dust.

The '73 is for the most part junk/parts. The Bee is fixable but it will be costly to do so. And that is asuming the frame is not junk.

I'm not going to post the whole pic, but this is sitting in back yard since about 1979  (I posted the whole pic on Moparts in the A12 section and had rabid people harassing me for a month)  It's the real deal 4 speed car, and still quite solid. I am going to stop by again this summer and see if there is any movement. Despite how depressing derelict cars are, they also give encouragement that some cool project car are still out there to be found....

There is a '69 GTX a couple miles away from me that I asked about maybe 10 years ago. The guy told me he and his son were going to fix it up someday. The only thing the son is interested in fixing now is womens hair. The guy still tells people who ask about it that someday he and his son are going to fix it up.

I know it's been talked about here before, but there is a Green '69 Charger sitting in a driveway for at least 6 years in Brooklyn park MN at the corner of a busy intersection. I made the mistake of asking the guy about it once and he flipped out on me and said people leave me alone. Well It never moves it looks semi solid. and it is at the corner of a very busy road. What does he think? No ones going to wonder about it? He has a garage, but it just sits outside and rots. Sad really!  :rotz:

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, but don't worry I made your horn louder."

I stopped and did the same thing two years ago....  At the same car!

there was a 73 or 4 se in town sitting the same way. really sharp looking solid car that just sat. it sat so long that the white letters were running down the tires. im told the guy was a viet nam vet and didnt come back with his head on right. if you knew him (few did) or managed to get to know him, and were a mopar guy you could have bought it, but his price 5 years ago was more than todays market would support for a small block 73 or 4 se. i do think it had a 340 in it but still not a true valuable car
