Does anyone know where to buy the back glass gasket or weatherstripping for a 69 Dodge Charger?  I was able to buy the windshield gasket at Yearone, but they, nor Classic Industries has the back glass gasket.  They have several others, but not 68-70 Chargers.  The glass installer I have said I need to buy them and he would install the glass...   Thanks!

No gasket for the second gen Charger back glass.....well, '68's for sure.

Spacers and Caulking held in the back glass.

I believe originally they had a 5/16 or 3/8 thick butyl ribbon that was used, cant remember off the top of my head. you can still get it from 3M in a roll.  It comes with small rubber spacers to space the glass correctly.

Others like to use urethane to seal it, but its messy and you have to be very careful to get the height correct.

Thanks, I have seen the 3M tape, I guess I will go that route.

got mine at pepboys, comes in a 3m box about 12"x12"  I wanna say its 5/16th

yeah 5/16" is the size , If your back glass channel is  ,  perfect !  to OEM specs  .

Thanks again, I am doubtful that my channel is perfect OEM spec.  Should I go less than 5/16"?

it depends , on the condition of the channel ,    might need a thinner or thicker butyl tape ,  if you go thicker to 3/8" , it may/ prolly  cause problems with the stainless trim ,  clipping into the revel moulding clips correctly .

if its way out of spec & had some plating up etc , it may well be better using  windshield glue /  pu / urethane sealer .
like what Timmy C said  :yesnod:

Very true, I did both when I did mine cause I wanted a perfect seal.

you just got to get a couple of rolls if you un sure and play with it if you not going to go with the tube sealant

tonycharger

Yes, I have replaced the panel behind the glass, in front of the trunk with a panel from Yearone. I am going to call the installer and let him know we will go the tube route.  I really appreciate everyone's comments!

Yep,,,, 5/16 butyl tape was all it took for my back glass. It was 16 bucks at the local parts house (3M brand), and it comes with the rubber spacers.
