Hey guys just recently bought this 69 charger SE, car was sold new here at a local Socal dodge dealership and i have all the dealer paperwork warranty cards etc etc that came with the car has no rust, was told its the numbers matching 383 engine, im still learning about mopars im more of a chevy guy and wanted to see what the cowl tag revealed about the car, i also noticed the original color was this aqua color which would look nice on a 60s impala but not sure if its a deisrable color on a 69 charger? Any input would be appreciated thanks

"Q5" - BRIGHT TURQUOISE METALLIC - while not the most popular '69 Charger color back-in-the-day, it has aged well and looks great!!  :drool5:

white or black vinyl top? nevermind!  :icon_smile_big:

So...

How much do you want for it ?  :shruggy:

socalcharger

wasnt really planning on selling it anytime soon, wanted to get your guys opinion about options the car has, color combo? if at all its a desirable one or if changing the color wont hurt the value? I just had a brand new dual exhast installed now since those pics.

b5blue

No! You can't change ANYTHING! That is the MOPAR way! (Just kidding... ) Now an old fella near me had one just so and I thought it looked fantastic! (But I like blue best!)

Nice Charger, looks like a really good start.  Is that a 59 Chevy I spy in the garage?

igozumn

Mmmmmmm.......Q5.  Some may say it's the best color.  Usually by someone that owns one.

Like me, lol.

thanks gents, would it hurt the value if i paint it a blue color instead of the turquoise color?

I like the Q5 & would leave it Q5 :Twocents: LEON.

Here here.  It's an under-appreciated color!

I have A Y2 69 Charger 500 that will soon be B5 blue,  That being said I like the Q5.  I had a QQ1 68.  The bottom line is paint it what you want unless your just flipping. :Twocents:

Looks like a great start!

As for value... it's a 383 2V auto - probably one of the most produced drive train combinations - which puts it on the "less desirable" end of the spectrum (if there is one for 69 Chargers!). The color code is what pushes it to the rare side. I agree that not everyone likes turquoise but many of those who don't also wouldn't prefer blue either. There are some other variables like whether it's numbers matching or not that could sway me (an all original, number matching car should stay the same as the tag if you ask me but if there's nothing original left on a high production car I don't care). I think that, done correctly, it won't have a major impact on value. If it's not numbers matching, changing it to a 440 4-speed would likely increase the value above what any color change would drag it down.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

THe engine and tranny are both numbers matching and I even have all the otriginal dealership paperwork and warranty paperwork as well. So with that in mind Im thinking it would be better to stick with the OG Q5 paint code then,

1974dodgecharger

if you plan to build it, sell it, then the way to do it is go back to original as much as possible....don't go custom then it wont sell as fast as all or near original as possible.

Q5 all the way....

Or sell it to me.  ;D

Good call. It really is a sharp color and of the pics posted with white top and black, I like the black one better. Out of curiosity, if you were to change the color, what would it be?

My car is very far from original but I would still prefer it if it were the original A4 silver. Still, if/when I repaint it, I may consider other colors....?

Keep us posted on the progress.

RARE COLOR COMBO TODAY!! Looks awesome! Paint it like it was back then and you have a HIGH $$$ CHARGER :D

Im probably gonna stick with the Q5 color and thinking wheel options of doing the stock rims painted Q5 with the dog dish cap look? Black vinyl top and black trunk stripe?

socalcharger

So what would you guys say the car is worth in the shape its in? And after interior is redone and car is repainted new chrome etc and make it a super clean driver?

Charger_Fan

Hey, at least it wasn't "parts car green" originally. Hehe :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

you didn't say if it ran, and if everything is in working order. or condition of insides
there was a car close to me that was a 68, matching numbers 383 2v (?), it had little rust in lower rear quarters, it ran and drove, was green, a/c. it sold for 10k

Totally agree. It's not a common color and under appreciated.

Just wondering, does anyone have some new or really nice 1969 wood grain pieces for the dash and a wood grain steering wheel that is not cracked all to hell that they would be willing to sell? for a lower price, I'm looking for below 2000$
