Trying to buy a 68. Ideally would love a black one, but its hard to find one at my price point.

So 3 options:
1. Light blue car, 440 (originally 3832bbl), blue interior. Looks mint. Nice wheels. No info on restoration though, no info on engine (only that i was swapped in past 5 years). Rear diff case is 489, but unknown gears. All is said to be in great order. Car is relatively local. Premium price (about $5k more than i budgeted).

2. Matt black car. 383/4bbl (said to be original). All details on resto, seems legit. No sure grip :( ugly wheels(will need new wheels/tires), dynoed over 400whp. Black interior, floor shifter (i prefer that). Shitty pics of the car, but seems like an ok car. Car is $3k over budget, would have to buy sightt unseen and ship (plus $1500).

3. Freshly painted black. 383 ("built really nice, has cam"). Pics are shitty, but looks ok. No heater. Under hood looks ok, but worse than the other 2. Havent seen interior yet. Wheels are shitty, but chrome and new (so could sell and get another set). At my budget (plus $1500 to ship, plus i dont trust the seller, might need to fly out and see it +$700).

So, at the end of the day, none of them seem like exactly what im looking for. Now if the first one was at my budget, id get that, but since its not my number one choice for color (both inside and outside), im having hard time justifying it. Though, i feel like if i ever to sell it, it would get the most money (or would a 383/4bbl all original, matt black sell for more?). Blue one sure looks pretty, has nice wheels and nice paint, just looks really mint, but im concerned that there is no info on engine rebuild and what year the engine is from (though the engine bay looks very clean).

What do you all think

Last one doesnt appeal to me, mainly cause heater is missing, makes me feel that corners were cut during restoration.

You need to have patience, I know its hard but there will be a great car that comes along that matches 90% of what you want.  I avoid all freshly painted cars unless they have specific details and pictures of the restoration.  New paint can hide a lot of issues.

Number 1 sounds best.  You need lots more detail of course, and then you can justify going over budget.

Years from now you won't even remember what you budgeted.  It just sort of fades away, but the car doesn't.

Don't buy anything that you haven't inspected yourself. :Twocents:

In this day and age if a guy can't put together some good detailed pictures or video and a detailed description, then I don't even bother.

I also think you can get a good feel for people over how they respond in emails and especially on the phone.   :Twocents:

Beyond that, hard to help you choose anything without pics.  I agree with 303, it will come along....me, I'd pick a good solid car over one of a particular color any day.   :Twocents:

Agreed. I just went to look at a car I had been given a description of, over 2 years ago. Seller said, "car is out in driveway for you to see". Translation: it doesn't run, and is stuck outside w/ window down. Interior is a roach, and I didn't tell you about the bodywork. Car hasn't run in months (year?).

Thank goodness I didn't take seller at their word.  :Twocents:

My main issue is that im stationed overseas, and my job schedule is really shitty, so flying out to see the car is very difficult. I might sell the car in a few years (when i plan to start a family), so resale value is important to me.

Number 1

Number 2. Can used to be normal black, but then the owner said he took the polish off (too many shiny black cars around). I think the pic quality is shitty, but car looks ok. With better wheels, it would look much better (i think), plus can be painted black again. It is all original per owner).

Both cars look Ok to me.. Blue one you can see it was once a vinyl top car...so you might ask about that...

I like the black one with the steel wheels. Just need more tire in the back maybe...I'd be asking for a lot more pictures of it.  From your wants it seems to fit more of what you are looking for

Out of the two posted, car #2 would be the choice for me. The interior on the blue car is a complete turn off and is so mickey mouse, I'm left wondering what the rest of the car is like.

Of course that black 1970 is the best looking of them all by far. At least in that photo.  ;)

Ideally, id like a shiny black, with black floor shift. So second seems to be a better fit for that, plus the guy explained the car well. I did see some wide wheels in this style that look good, but not what id like ideally. Blues one seems in a better shape, but i think its my perception do to paint and wheels. Though, there is not much history on blue one, but plenty on the black one. Plus, i think i can paint the black one later if i want to. Blue one is closer to me, i can go pick it up and drive it home, but the black one id have to ship. Plus blue one has led tail lights, cool wheel, stereo, electrical cutouts. 440 is not original, originally was 383/2bbl (which i undestand torflight tranny was different on 2/4bbl/440), but the black one is claimed to be originally 383/4bbl (stronger torqueflight tranny) and owner said he rebuilt it (with details). Ugh, this is hard!

I'd go and see all these cars if i were you!
Personally i always wanted a back charger as well but i have found a LL1 coded car and it grow on me.The blue one looks like Q5? and i like it a lot!The interior can be swaped out and dyed easily later on.Wheels are not that big of a deal when you looking at spending 30+ and i'd not care about that.
Go to see them and drive them.Buying new wheels are cheaper then rebuilding engines, trans etc.

You said you are stationed in Germany? Are these cars in Germany than? The '70 license plate is German, isn't it?
You know in Germany to pass their strickt inspection the cars has to be in very good condition. So if they are registered it means they can't be like in the States just thrown together.

I'm in Hungary and to be able to register my car i have to restore it to factory condition. Can't have any fluid leaks, over spray on wheels, exhaust on suspension, rust, any rip or damage in the interior.Germany is big but nowhere as big as the States so you could drive anywhere.
I know mopar guys in Berlin they might knnow these cars or can help you with transport(if these cars are in Germany).

Would you mind telling us the price for these cars you listed?

Indeed, you are correct, i am in germany, however none of the cars are. Option two is in the states, option one is in sweden. I can fly out to sweden and drive the car back, with option two (due to timing), i have buy sight unseens and ship it back. So in total it would actually come out about the same as option one (plus 45 days to ship).

I'd go and see the first one for sure.We Europeans tend to love these cars in a different way(more respect) since we couldn't grow up around them.Of course every nation has their bad apples.
Buying unseen is very dangerous and foolish(ask me how i know  :slap: ) from so far away. Can't see how flying two hours to Sweden and driving 6-7 hours back to Germany seems the same as buying a car from the States and wait 45+ days for shipping.Plus paying for import fees and stuff.Or your military flys out cars for you guys and no taxes fees are applied?Still would have to register in Germany and the car has to be in excellent condition. However the blue one is already a Europen car and won't need to go through the same bs as a foreign car.

Maybe someone here in the states could check out the car for you.

I talked to the owner via email this morning, so as far as I know, it's still available.
