Hello all,

I own a 73 charger, the steering column was badly put together by previous owner and it snapped on me the other day, as I live in the uk it is cheaper to have one made than it is to buy one from the states, only problem I have is I don't know the size of the original as I am missing a piece off of mine, it's manual steering, do anybody know what the length of the shaft is? From the end which goes in the coupler to the end the steering wheel connects to? Also it's floor shift if anybody could help me that would be perfect.

Thanks

Should be fairly easy to measure if you install the column without the shaft and then measure point A to point B. Whoever is making it for you knows that they are a 2 piece shaft with plastic pins that sheer so the shaft can collapse? Also able to make the splines for the wheel? Might be cheaper in the long run to find a good used one.

Thank you, I'll try that later, well we have spoken to about it and there is 2 options remake the whole shaft or just make the bottom part and connect it to the original, the plastic but that shears off is not on my shaft anymore so it moves as it pleases, is that plastic bit something I could buy? Only problem is I live in the uk so the price of the shaft in America double it and some more and that's what it'll cost to get it to my house!!!

Also how far does the shaft go in the coupler? Is it a round shaft at the end of the double d shape? Because I don't have the bottom part of my shaft so I don't know what the original looks like!
