Perhaps if one has the ability to do body work themselves and save 15+ grand, I can agree with that figure, but since I don't do bodywork myself, I'm sticking to the original figure.   

Assuming that the car can be bought for 20 and you put 50 into it, is it worth 70?

No, I mean, I passed on the South Dakota "Crazy Horse R/T Sunroof NOM Charger" back in 1998ish, I think. It was $18k, as it still sits  in the same condition today.

So this one done, and I am being generous, would be a $50k car restored.

Forget the big AZ auctions. I buy my cars at prices which even keep my wife happy.  :Two cents: I think others like to overpay.

Wow.... V21 Sunroof RTSE.  Very very few V21 RTSEs.... I can't imagine there is more than a handful of V21 RTSEs... not to mention add sunroof and PW.  What a great optioned car (even if I am not a huge red fan).  Gets a guy scratching his head.

nope that's not the original stripe  , take a look at the picture below , see green arrows , they are pointing to the ,  remains of the original stripe , that has been painted over , with body color at some point !   & another black one has been painted on   ( well at least , that's what it looks like  on the top of the quarter )

I hope I am not speaking out of place and this post is not directed torweds anyone in particular in this thread but reading mopar forums in general I find that a popular response in these mopar threads about project cars is the car is going be worth "X" amount restored - done... it will cost much much more the "X" to restore it. Ok so what does this  imply, that we all go dump these in the ocean??   This type of thinking seems to be more financially motivated then passion or historical preservation but even in terms of $$ this logic seems to also forgot the dynamics of supply and demand. This car is one of 29 if I read correctly? The options speak for them selves. You can buy a house on any block and call that an investment but how many of this breed of RT are you going  to find if you happen to want one? How about 20 yrs from now? I don't mean to rant but it is slightly annoying to me to hear this so often in a hobby that should mean a lot more then just $$.

Ha thanks Mike!  it was professionally applied by the "Mann" ya know   I actually used a template tracing that taken from member LeesRT original V21 car from CA.  Bill440RT used it on has sublime '69 as well....

I stand corrected  :slap:as I was clearly temporally blinded by such a cool rare creature about the repaint, pretty obvious that it was repainted at least in part or maybe all.  Saying on the stripe it is quite a bit off and agree they are sloppy.  I have 3 cars at this time that still hold original stripes and others in the past and they do very quite a bit which I find interesting.   Car I have a friend painting I hope to match were the stripe was.

Have not talked with Lee in many years and I am sure he likely would not remember me but he share a tracing and measurement with me too.  A real nice guy to help with that as there is little real information out there and the graphics from Chrysler which as I recall Dave Paddock shared , also helpful, but that detail lacks measurements and has just a graphic for the little swoops on the cowl at the corners of the windshield.   Both together provide some good info....on the V21 details.  Now to talk about the correct paint for the V21....

Chris, remember our Bill (daytonakid) who restored the A4 Silver '69 Charger R/T that sold for $100k @ BJ few years back.
He also did a ground up on an fc7 purple convertible Superbird.
Those were a couple that were seen on this forum.

He does absolutely fantastic work.     Luckily he supposedly said he was gonna still take care of us but he sold his shop & retired.

I asked him why his black out was the way it was & now I can't remember what he said.  You know how your mind will find something that catches your attention & you end up focusing on it every time.

I had a cover on my dash pad of my blue Charger.  DROVE me nuts.


Anyhoots, I'm pretty sure I remember you laying V21 down.  You had a naked call out prior to the black out, correct?  Anyhoots, whenever I see a '69 with black out I immediately check out the cowl, lol.

lets say this car will hit 30k, which it may do so, so if someone will pay 30k for a non numbers matching rare r/t that needs restored. they will surely pay over 50k when restored. ide say restored this car could hit 75-85k even on ebay. doesnt matter what you think...its what others will pay.

All reasonable thoughts we all buy or enjoy them and talking about aspects.  We all like something.  This car is super great, imo and because it is a hobby for me... a boat, travel, cabin, whatever for others I can happily buy at strong money a super optioned car, maybe as much as 20% and not hurt my feelings.  And I have in the past and I liked that old car and still have it, gave 4500 back in 87 worth more now maybe.. don't care that much.  Done it more than once likely.  I am not a player and have talked myself out of this one, but personally I still like it anywhere in the 30s....      I surely am not the only one.  I heard the reserve today and it will be interesting seeing what it goes for and hopefully it finds a good home.  Sorta unrelated, love PW... but so done....do not want any more PW cars and can only imagine the hassles with sunroofs???

The value of that "coin" is very much diminished these days and demand for the best looking dodge continues to go up. --Supply,demand, and a speculators view of the future are what give us this conversation.
