Hello everyone, new member, I have just traded for my new project, a 74 Charger that is a Rallye 360 car. It does have a factory sun roof. I have 2 questions please, does anyone know how many Rallye sun roof cars were produced in 74? Second, does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the mechanics of the sun roof? The car is a project car, but I would like to build this car. Any help from this knowledgeable group would certainly be appreciated. Thank you  Jeff

Welcome to the site, and try to post some pictures. I have no idea of how many sunroof cars were built in 74, not many I'll bet.

I think I've only seen about two that come to mind anyway.  Not many for sure.

all depending on the K or  L in you Vin

I have this little book that tells me but due to him being such a prick i can't reproduce or quote his information without his written permission or consent, but if i had to take an educated guess i would say right around 655-665 total shipped and with the sunroof who knows. maybe lless if u have a WL car very low production

I should have picked bowling as a hobby.
Darn mopar B bodies it's an illness.
Theres always room for one more Charger

Hey Guys, Thank you everyone for the responses. It is an L code car, I am supposed to pick it up this week. I didn't think there would be any out there. The car needs everything like most projects do, I can't find production numbers anywhere on an L coded Rallye 360 with a sun roof. Thanks for all your help. Great site, great guys and gals, great knowledge

Hello Everyone, Jeff got this car from me and asked that I post a picture in "as found" condition. This is a picture with the car on my trailer just as I brought it in. I have never seen another 73 - 74 Rallye Charger with a factory sunroof. I have seen a few 73 - 74 SE Chargers with them but not any Rallyes. Good luck with your new project Jeff and I am sure this car will one day be as nice as your  Roadrunner.
Thanks, Steve.

Steve, Thank you so much for your friendship and knowledge. I would recommend your services to any of these fine Mopar folks out here. I have been to Steve's place many times, and his knowledge, his inventory is most impressive. You can contact Steve at 479-430-4886. We consider Steve's place to be our local Mopar emporium. Great guy, great service, great inventory!

I've got this picture of a sunroof Rallye.  I don't remember where I found it.

I have also been to Steve's place. He's a super guy with lots of Mopar parts and cars.

Hi. I am curious to production too!

I have bought a 1974 Dodge Charger WH23 A57 U-code Sunroof car.
With the combo: 400 - AT, AC, Cruise, Power Windows. 2 Fender Tags because of all the options.
I must believe I must have found myself a very rare car. I would of course be very interesting to know how rare.

So far I've found:
1248 BB WH23 = 4,8 % of 29.101 cars ( 400 - 440 - AT - 4sp )
105 total A57 / WH23 in 1974 ( SB & BB )= 0,35 % of 29.101. cars.

I've read one guy mention that only 16 BB cars got Sunroof in 1974.

So with the rar combo Rally - BB - Sunroof and all the other options, statistics make me guess it must be less than 5 cars totally made?
And if so, how many exist today in addition to mine?

Anyone with other thoughts or infor about this?

Bought my first Charger in 1979.

Wow.  Very cool car !!

Yes. 68 auto L code coupes and 567 hardtops

I'm assuming you have an auto?

Really not sure if there is a breakdown of sunroof rallyes.

These are US-only numbers I posted above....
'74 Rallye 4spd (WH23L4) (1 of 94)
'74 Rallye Auto (WH23L4) (quad black)
'69 Swinger 340 - 4spd
'70 Duster 340 - 4spd

Wouldn't your car be a 440 AT if it was 'U' coded or is the original motor gone?
Nice looking rallye btw....

this is not an accurate number....

(eg.  any "L" code car has the rallye package)

Wouldn't your car be a 440 AT if it was 'U' coded or is the original motor gone?
Nice looking rallye btw....

Hi, you're absolutelly correct, my mistake. I did mix up U-code as in USA-spesification, and U-code for 440.
My car is a WH23 P4G, P - for 400 engine.
There is a 440 in my car now, but I also have the matching number 400 engine waiting for rebuild.

this is not an accurate number....

I have read for year 1974:
105 cars  W H 23 - 4 -
336 cars  W L 23 - 4 - You mean "L" like this?

Oh...
No... those would be for the hardtop or coupe identifiers.  I was referring to the engine size, such as:  "WH23L4" where the 'L' would be for the 360 in 1974.  So when you mentioned you had a 'U' code I assumed you had a WH23U4.  The comment you made about having the 400 confused me a little though.

The 105 "Rallye package" number is not accurate for 1974.  It cannot be since all "L" coded cars were rallyes and if they had 68 auto L code coupes and 567 hardtops alone.  Not to mention the 440's 400's and the base 318 rallyes made.

this link might have some information you might find helpful.  It starts off asking about the 360 4 speed but eventually the same questoin about 105 is asked here too.

Hope this helps some.
