QuoteI didn't say wheelies were impossible, I said the F&F one is not believable.  I will stand by my statement.

I think he was referring to the fact that it's moving forward on a wheelie and the tires are smoking at the same time.

Everyone looks at the movie and says it's impossible.  I don't see why.
Improbable?  Yes.  But if cars with all 4 wheels on the ground can spin tires and move forward at the same time, then it can happen during a wheelie too.  The physics don't rule it out.

The most unrealistic thing about the F&F#1 wheelie was the way the car lurched up to a certain angle and then paused & hung exactly there.  Hydraulic bars underneath the chassis don't produce a natural motion.  Having the weight hung out behind the rear bumper (subsequent F&F movies) does the job so much better.

Yes, the smoking tires and hanging the wheels at the same time part. I always called b.s. until i watched the max wedge do it once. I got it on film too.

I bought these Friday Night....

I am happy with them, the guy I bought them from had media blasted, and cleaned/painted the center caps. After work yesterday, I cleaned/hit the spokes with Mothers Aluminum polish, then painted between the spokes. I am happy with the way it turned out. Just did one for comparison, gotta do the other three wheels.

I freshened mine up a couple months ago. I still haven't had center cap stickers made yet. I am still using old originals and have been debating on using reproduction caps as mine are becoming really brittle. Excuse the dust..it was a spur of the moment picture.

HPT BANDIT

I got some 15x8.5 for all 4 corners. 235's for the front a 255's for the back.

Brock Lee

I did 15x8.5's all around at first. Had it that way for about 2 years, put 15x7's on the front. That lasted about 2 years. Then I came across a set and a half (full set and 2 spares) of actual Shelby's. So I switched, so now I have 14x7's all around.

Do you know of anybody that makes Shelby center cap stickers?

440

There was a guy from the GLFC forum that had some reproduction stickers made.

I saved this scan to have my own made locally like the American Racing version, but never did.

Original center caps had a dimple molded in the center of the cap, the new caps have a bump molded in the center that needs to be sanded down with a dremel if your going to use a sticker.

Brock Lee

Good choice on having it made local! I have two original stickers from this set that were hanging on for dear life. I have to scan them and make vector art from them so I can have them made. They look a little different. The elements are all the same, just some sizing differences from the repros I have seen. I suspect someone just bought a Shelby cap from something else from a different era and that has become the "standard". The biggest reason why I prefer to do them myself is I want to dome them right in the cap. The doming isn't correct, but it sure protects them and doing it right in the cap will help bond it into the cap with no gaps and I can use that void to create a deeper dome too.

Anyway, any sign shop can make them. The most expensive part will be having the EPS file created. The better the art you provide, the less labor they will have to put into it. The one shown above looks clean and shouldn't require too much work.

Still building mine. Its just a driver with decent paint and some custom decals. Need to finish the interior.

69ChargerMikey

Mines still under construction as well. I can not find the center cap emblems to save my life. I have 3 reproduction domed decals and caps, but the guy I got my charger from lost one of them. I'd love to find those as well.

Brock Lee

I am about to get some center cap stickers made. I think I found the place I want to use (they specialize in making domed automotive exterior decals with good adhesive and UV protection). All I am waiting for right now are the proofs and a minimum order figure.

If I do it, they will actually be the Shelby cap art, not the ones like shown above that are an approximation. The real ones are a tad different in proportion.

I had to order a minimum of 100 stickers when I did the AR stickers.

Brock Lee

In the initial consultation, he said he was open to making a lower quantity, but it would be reflected in the price. I have to see what the difference is. There is no point in buying a small number if you pay end up paying 2-3 times more per. 100 is only 25 cars..I need 6 decals just to get my car and its spares done. Plus at least one, maybe two sets of extras..I can take a good bite out of the 100 just for myself.

I needed to make a quick run to Menards yesterday and almost jumped in the GL to do so. Only thing that stopped me was the off chance that I'd need the truck bed so I took that instead. Strangest thing happened on the way there, we saw another GL!!! I didn't know of any (other than mine) in the area.

Alright, who else in MN has a GL? Were you in the Blaine area yesterday?

An old stock Car, really do not know how to go with it.. Very solid car for being BASHED  UP for years.

That car is sweet! I'd be tempted to build it as is and drive it.
