Looking for a place to buy a complete and correct OEM exhaust for my 383 Magnum x 4 gear 'Bee.

Has anyone used Gardner or have any inside track / review on them? or can suggest a good place to get a correct fitting exhaust system. Mine is in pretty good condition, but the mufflers aren't correct, were spliced in and need replacing. May as well do it all correctly at this stage of the restoration.

Thanks!

ECS/Dave Walden or Gardner are good choices, if OEM correctness and detail is important to you?, I'd start with ESC first

Got mine for the 73 from Waldron ... great prices and went right on!

Thanks, gives me three places for quotes. Accurate won't ship across the border, but pending cost I could always take the wife for a drive for a couple days and pick up below the imaginary line somewhere.

I'm in the same boat while not that concerned about looking "factory vintage" fitment is a worry. Aren't there clearance dents in some sections?  :scratchchin:

birdsandbees

383 front pipes didn't get clearance dents to clear the torsion bars, but hemi's did and possibly 440's. Mufflers get smacked to clear the back end at the frame rail.

Whatever Accurate is, Waldron will most likely be about half that with shipping.

That would be nice to see... I can only hope considering how far in the wallet I am on this so far. Accurate is $900 bucks for the entire system, c/w all clamps and hangers.

Gardner is down the road from my friends shop and he knows them well...    they just dropped off a system for a 70 340 ragtop 4 speed Cuda the other day.   That $900 for an accurate system might get you half of a Gardner system but it'll never look as pretty either.    :Twocents:     I consider them a high end supplier that are probably best used on high end resto's.    Your call.

Accurate is going to be at the low end of the price scale.     A friend has them on his Superbird, which is a driver.     The system fit well and has performed well.    You won't win a major judged show anymore with this system.    It is true that the bar has been raised with better "OEM" systems.    They will come at a price premium.     So, it all depends on what your intent is for the car is and your budget.

birdsandbees

Thanks! I don't plan on any concurs shows in the near future, but you know how plans change!  I just don't understand the reluctance to post prices on their web pages, or even email you a complete system price when asking for a quote, in todays internet world.

Our Chrysler Licensed Exhaust Systems are manufactured exactly like the Factory versions, based on the manufacturing blueprints from Chrysler.  ECS Systems are less expensive than Garner in most cases and our Piping (H Pipes, Head Pipes, Tail Pipes) are all LESS expensive than both accurate or Gardner.

Gardner system just installed on 70 Cuda 340 / 4 speed / ragtop at my friends shop.   Gardner came over personally to make sure the pipes fit.   OK... it wasn't exactly a long drive or anything for them.  :Twocents:

Those sure look like our Resonators.  Can you ask him where he got them from?  Can you also get a better close up of the Mufflers and/or any embossings that are on them?  Thanks!

I thought those resonators looked familiar as well.

Is that an aluminized finish on the head pipes?

birdsandbees

Well I'm as giddy as a 14 year old boy with a bra clip in my hand...  :yesnod: :icon_smile_big: ... hopefully by the end of next week I'll have some pictures to share.

My "first off" full 383 magnum system ships on Monday, we hope. And I had them make my head pipes aluminized so it all matches front to back, although I know all head pipes (as my originals are) were cold rolled.

I managed to get the correct "loop" hanger / clamps from Frank at ARPS, but they are out of stock on correct pipe clamps for the muffler inlet and tail pipe hangers, anyone know another source for correct 1969 2 1/4" clamps?
