It was an original XP29C car.   Yep, you guessed it, a /6, leaning tower of power car prior to it being given its current 383 powerplant.   XP on 69's mean SE correct?

The owner knows jack about chargers in general, he just bought the car because he is a dukes fan, which is okay in my book.   Now it is time to educate him, but before that can happen, educate me on the XP in '69.

XP is Premium
XS is Special
XX is the Charger 500 and the Daytona Charger

SE is just a package on the charger.

Also, I don't believe they made a C code car.  They made a G code which is a 383

Sometime's the G looks like a C.  I could be wrong though.

Anyone else have a answer for this one??

mustanghater

it was a 6cly? and it was a SE? wonder how rare that is.

it was a XP29C9

i looked up the VIN on the VIN decoder and it stated that C is a special order /6.   How many 69 /6 cars were made? anyone?

Actually the code for a /6 would be "B"

I have 2 in the registry now.   Not sure on the total prod # but it isnt very high

Your C should be a G for 383 2 bbl

The slant six was actually added to the range for this year, though only about 500 were sold. Slant-powered Chargers, if left unmodified, would have been fairly slow.
Here is the link.

I was wrong it was 500!!

My little red book says the same thing

542 6 cyl
B code for 6 cyl

They are probably talking about all mopars in general, not just chargers.

I have a feeling not too many people special ordered a 6 cyl. charger.

There were 5 1969 Charger SE /6 made according to some info I got from a former 69 /6 owner up in Washington state (his was a SE according to the fender tag).   As for the "C" code, I don't remember if 1969 used the C or B (I think in 68 it was B), but in 1970 it was most definately C for a 225 " /6 Charger.......

2 or 3 years ago I found a /6, 3-speed column shift 1969 Charger, it intrigued me because of its rarity, although not desirable as 440 and 426 cars i wished i would have bought it.

ChargerHound69

I have looked for years, and I have yet to see a 6 cyl charger in any year.

It would be interesting to see one in restored condition.  I wonder how much power they have in that big hugh car??

kikgas01

There is 1 for sale 20 miles from me.It is rough slant 6 3 speed manual on the column. The guy thinks it`s a gold mine but he deals in mopars and is a millionaire.Jeff Bobst,Waverly Iowa319-352-2511.

I believe I saw a '69 slant six, three on the tree on Deals On Wheels a while back. It was located in Wisconsin and they were asking $15k for it. It was white and appeared to be in great shape.

RD

well i got the skinny on the car.  The VIN definitely shows a "C" (must have been a bad stamping like strat had) but the title shows a "G" so it was a 383 2bbl car originally.  I will see the car tomorrow so I will check the fendertag to make sure.

I have a base model 70 Charger /6, but is years away from a total restoration.  It has bondo for the rocker panals and rear quarters as well as the entire front driver's side pan is rusted out.  On the plus side, it is basically complete except for the radio and vinyl top.  Eventually, it will be in my Charger "oddballs" collection to be shown together with my other rare Chargers.......

In my comment earlier, I wanted to add that of the 500 or so /6 Chargers made in 1969, only 5 were optioned as SEs....

I just registered 3 of the four.  I can't seem to find where I put the last one's info.  As soon as I find it, I will register it too......

ChargerHound69-  I put pics up of most of my Chargers (including the /6) on the other post.  The camara quality was rather poor, but that was done with a digital camara that I got as a present four years ago.  I have about fifteen of my cars that I don't have good pics of yet, since I store them far away from my hometown and some were recently purchased since these were taken.  I might get to them by Christmas break........

Thanks for the info and the pictures Chad.  I guess that goes to show that most of these books and half the sources for these car's are incomplete.
