I'm sure it is just me but since i wanted to get a charger(few years now)i have only seen 3 '68 r/t 4 speed chargers for sale.
Seen '69 r/t 4 speeds a lot more or '68 383 4 speeds but not '68 r/t 4 speed .People hang onto them more or they are just not around any more, meaning they are rarer?

Also which one would be more valuable '68 or '69 if equal on colors, options, quality etc.?

A 68 would, of course. That goes without saying.

Thats hard to say considering no 2 chargers were the same really, i mean even if they are both optioned the same, one might be an early production and the other could be a canadian car

i think the 68 would be more valuable though.  :scratchchin:

Wrong, a 69 is worth more, ask any woman.    :icon_smile_big:

Here's how this works, if I have $50,000 for a 69 and Joe blow has $50,001 for a 68, then the 68 is more valuable, just like a pinto could be bib up to $100,002 on ebay and our cars are  worth half a pinto, buyers make the value, we just have our own bubble and dread the day it's popped,  just be like me a 69 was my dream car and I own it now and I'm not looking back, I don't envy anything else, so do what makes you happy, this is America, enjoy it, or don't you have that choice :2thumbs:

Back alley performance

I own what I think is a strange 68RT 4 speed Dana car.  I've had it ten years and not driven it five miles!

Not sure if it's a rare car but I've only seen three like it.

Numbers matching drive train

Original aa1 silver
No console
Am radio
No tach
No ps or pub
Two speed wipers
No by vinyl top
Built in dec 67

My shop burned to the ground and I lost 11 cars and 30 years worth of parts including my factory cut a way 383  motor that was at the 1968 chicago auto show.  This car and a 70 roadrunner was in a building behind my shop luckily!!

Anyways, I'm finally going to drive my RT, it's time to enjoy it

Aww man! I lost my '68 in a fire and that was pĂ inful enough. Sorry to hear about your loss.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

They're all getting bought up by some ECB.  (well, MEB might be more accurate). ;)

why don't you see many ?  because they have been reborn as kia's Toyotas & greatwalls of crap after the scrap steel boom.thus makes the ones remaining valuable whether its a 68 69 or 70 .so who does have one is a lucky man/woman  :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:

cbrestorations

i think alot of the original 4 speed r/ts were abused during their life and were either wrecked and parted out or scrapped by now

I can believe that, considering how many Srt8 and hellcat challengers are being destroyed as we speak, while the 6 cylinders will probably be around for 40 years

Met a guy with a 68 that he may consider selling for the right price. I don't have any pics, only a couple not so great videos. It was a 383 auto car but is now a 440 - 4 speed both rebuilt with less than 1500 miles. Car came from out west so there was minimal rust, trunk is original and has a couple small holes but in great shape for an original trunk. Paint is obviously not a mopar color and is about 10 years old, is not perfect but is decent, there are a few imperfections. It has AC, vynal top, magnums, 4 speed console, 4 wheel drums, 355 gears, there are a bunch of spare parts.

I know it's hard to estimate what it's worth with no pics, little info and not seeing it in person but what do you guys think the approximate price range is?

Sorry about the video quality, this is all I have.

Hard to tell from the 1" X 1 1/2" video. If it's a driver quality car that's in decent shape, but needs to be freshened up. I'd say around the mid-upper 20s. If it's an original 383 4 barrel,  4 speed with a/c, I'd say that it's a pretty rare car. I wouldn't mind having one of those myself.

E86/A47

Not originally a 4 speed. It was converted with all proper parts.

Not sure why the videos uploaded like that so I loaded them on photobucket and you can enlarge them but the quality is still poor because it was taken with a phone.

It's a driver quality car, get in and go. Only needs minor work. It supposedly got less than 50k original miles.

hard to put a value on both it would be determined by buyer what he likes year wise.......me personally 4 speed in a 2nd gen Ill take what I can get.

I am a bit of a collector of late 60s and very early 70s vehicles. I have eight of them. Manuals are really hard to come across in any of them. The only thing that has a manual is a Corvair and a Jimmy (I actually wish it was an auto.) I may change some my 68 RT to a 4 speed some day.

So who has production numbers on '68 charger RT 4 sp cars vs. '69 RT 4 sp cars?
That should answer part of your question. Logic says both 68 and 69 cars were scrapped at the same rate. Logic also says perhaps a first year of a new generation of charger in the tops of performance application ( RT-4 sp) would be less ordered compered to the 2nd yr. I think the 68's are also slightly more coveted then the '69's which are already very coveted.

GG's "white books" show:

1968 Charger R/T built to US spec. = 17,584
1968 Charger R/T 440 & 4-speed = 2,743 (15.6%)

1969 Charger R/T built to US spec. = 18,776
1969 Charger R/T 440 & 4-speed = 3,605 (19.2%)

1970 Charger R/T built to US spec. = 9,370
1970 Charger R/T 440 & 4-speed = 1,443 (15.4%)
1970 Charger R/T 440+6 & 4-speed = 347 (3.7%) total 440 & 440+6 = 1,790 (19.1%)

:scratchchin: I wonder if the Inland shifter's reputation lessened the desirability of the '68 4-speeds when new?

Chrysler must have felt it was hurting sales, in order for them to make the change mid-year.  :Twocents:
