Grille spacer bolts too short!!!

So most of the parts I bought for my car were purchased back in 2007 or 2008.  I've never opened the grille spacer kit until yesterday.  I put the grille into the headlight support and go to install the bolts through the spacers... And they all appear to be too short to engage the j-nuts.

Is/was this a common problem? 

I'm probably just gonna run to the parts store and try to find some longer ones...

Are you talking about the 10 bolts that hold the grille to the frame? They are about an inch long I think, maybe a bit shorter. How short are yours?
