4 speed cast iron case

Does anyone know if can swap out the guts out of an aluminum overdrive 4 speed into any cast iron a833 case? Do bearing sizes matter? I've heard of cast iron o/d cases but I never seen one.

There were definitely cast iron OD 833s. The only one I've ever seen was in my 76 Volare 318 factory 4speed wagon if that gives you any hint as to what they might have come in.
