Were the arms dipped before or after the lower pivot bushing and shaft were installed???

Been a nightmare trying to get a bucket of Rust Veto. Finally found out that Houghton can no longer sell it in Canada. My bucket is currently enroute from PA to Florida to my Father in Laws winter residence and hoping it gets there before my sister in law heads home this weekend.

Might have to have an LCA dipping party for folks in Ontario and charge 50 bucks a pair to cover the expense of a 5 gallon pail !

Well, judging by the way these cars were assembled, I would guess that they were fully assembled and then dipped. Seems they were held by the lower ball joint end and then dipped all they way up to the large rivet, right at the end leaving the round part for the ball joint not coated. Again not positive that the pivot shaft was installed before this, but I cant see someone dipping the arm and then trying to hold onto it with cosmoline all over it and then press a shaft into it  ;)

Makes sense and what I figured. Was just looking for some confirmation before I have my pail. I should have just painted the things black like everything else..  :yesnod: .. but as this restoration continues to grow and get out of hand I figured what the hell..

Is Rust Veto really cosmoline or something else?   I used some spray on cosmoline from Resto Rick and I really don't like it.  Takes forever to dry (never really does, always tacky) and is very easy to scar up.  I can imagine that it's going to pick up and hold every single piece of dirt that hits it.  I sprayed clear finish on top of it but that only seems to somewhat fix the tackiness problem.

There are many rust vetos, as it's a line of products no different than Duplicolor.

I use to dip and spin the seat belt spring follower cams that I made for TRW, at my injection moulding plant, in a Rust Veto so it left behind a lubricating wax.

The "342" is a long term metal protection. You dip it, the solvent flashes off and it leaves more of a plastic coating than wax, with a yellow tinge, or at least so I've been told. I sure hope so, as a 5 gallon bucket, with $50 shipping to Florida, was $300US = $400 Cdn and hoping it gets there before both of my sister in laws leave the old mans so they can bring it home. Otherwise I'll have to wait for it until late April. You cannot buy it in Canada anymore.
