Hey there I am in process of installing a firecore ready to run distributor...can you simply unplug the orange  box . Jumper the ballast and hook up the coil wires from the old coil to the new coil , , then ground the firecore unit  and be good to go?
Or is there more to it?....71 charger
I bugged Ron but I am lousy with wiring
Thanks!

What you got there should work except you need a coil that will work with 12 volts coming to it. A coil that is designed for use with a resistor will burn up quick with 12 volts running straight to it. Ron does sell the 12 volt coils for the RTR set up's!!!

yep got the right coil from Ron, however car wont start sadly......the way its wired I am only getting 8.15 volts to distrib when cranking

guess I need a 12 volt keyed source wire can anyone tell me whats the best source to connect to?
thanks

You maybe loosing voltage somewhere between the switch and the resistor. You did bypass the resistor right?? The starting wire should be 12 volts or close to that when in the start position and if the resistor is bypassed it should have 12 volts in the run position too. You maybe loosing voltage at the bulkhead connector or at the ignition switch, Time to get the voltmeter out and check for voltage here and there...

Well feeling stupid right now.....had wires reversed on the coil.....its 1 30am and I just came in from shop as I couldn't sleep lol.....it runs!....now for sleep
