I guess vibration/noise is what I am talking about. I think a butyl or ashpalt material topped of by some type of insulation will correct a lot of the noise.  If you knock on a panel and it sounds "tinny" don't you need a product applied to it that has mass to first damper or reduce the vibration in the panel itself? I think the stuff you guys are talking about would probably work very well over a butyl or ashpalt based product for insulation. I just don't see it stopping much vibration in the panel. It is definately better than nothing.

I'm not sure what bubble stuff you refer to 694spdRT, but the stuff I used is an 1/8 thick and more like a pad.  Weighs very little (as the entire roll didn't weigh 1lb) as pictured.
Noise and heat was what I was after.  My wife would put her water bottle on the floor and later complain that it was very warm.  Hopefully this'll take care of that.

I thought that reflectex stuff was some type of air bubble insulation. I have seen something like that had the reflective layer on it. If it is a high density foam that will probably work pretty good. I was reading up on Ice and Water shield and it seems that is what some guys are using for big stereo setups. One thread had a very lively debate but it appears very similar to Dynomat, eDead, etc. without the foil layer.  I think the roll I was looking at weighs about 26 lbs for around 108 sq. ft.

The stuff I am talking about is around $70 for 108 sq ft.  I guess if you use all of it you might need to go on a diet for drag racing.

Old thread... but I have been having a time deciding/finding alternatives to insulate... little bit for noise on the roof, and heat everywhere else... anyhow, for anyone else in Canada, while Home Depot doesn't appear to carry the Frost King stuff, Lowes does...

Foam and foil is what I used on both cars. Worked great
