Anyone know anything about burning cd labels? I want to burn right to the label side of the disc. I got a stick on label type , but they already seem to be sticking (hard to eject) and I just see it getting worse as the weather gets warmer and more use. Any options? I tried the lightscribe download but , I don't have the right drivers I guess. Thanks

I used to do this alot but it caused the same problems. I gave up on the stick labels! My artwork is now via Sharpie.

Do you have a lightscribe drive?

I once had a desktop that with special CDs could make custom labels on the CD, it was only 2 colors like a gold\brass and a darker gold\brass but it was really cool, and light scribe sounds familiar, but it needs CDs and the drive and hardware to work, what about putting the labeles on after the CD is all done? Or adding some 3m spray adhesive before putting the label on? Its been years since burned CD of even downloaded a song limewire I think is what was popular then :rotz:

poppa

Yeah , I remember Lime wire also.

I have an Epson Artisan 50 that is an ink jet printer that also does cd's, came with the software to do it

kpkube

You need to have a lightscribe drive and lightscribe discs for that to work.

I have a Canon MG5420 printer that prints on the disc.  You just need inkjet printable discs to print on.
I also use a program called Magic Mouse (http://www.magicmouse.com/) to design the label and then print.
They have both Mac and windows versions. Great program, easy to use.

Last night I remembered our old desktop had Lightscribe. But lost it when it was redone. Could I ,either , just download the software or would that cd drive fit my laptop? Same manufacturer. I am not real computer savvy.

We just bought a new printer last fall. If I would have known about those printers I would have bought one of those. Thank you for the info

The desktop drive is probably too large for a laptop. Does the desktop still work?  You could download the software and use it along with lightscribe discs to burn labels on the disc.

poppa

I will try this today. It is mostly for the grandkids for games and stuff. Thanks

Here is a youtube video that explains the installation and printing lightscribe  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XexQN1UhWXo

the label he prints in the video took 15 mins to print.  You may just want to pick up an inkjet printer to print labels.
And the Magic Mouse program is called Discus.

Also you may want to look to see how much the lightscribe discs costs compared to just inkjet discs.
The lighscribe discs may be harder to find these days.

poppa

I have some Light scribe discs , for now. I think I got Light scribe now , on my old lap top is where it was , not the desktop. Is Magic Mouse something like Roxio or Sure thing or Sonic? Will one of these be like the actual program I use? When I go to the Light Scribe control panel and click on system info , it says I have it and it's available. But I see nowhere to 'set up' a cd. No get music here , rip a cd , etc.

Magic Mouse(Discus) is a label program.  You need a burning program to put the music on the disc. Roxio burns the disc.  Then you need a program to do the label.  Not sure what the windows program is.

poppa

I appreciate your help. As I said , I'm not real good with computers. Let's just say I have Light Scribe and it works. What else do I need? Light Scribe would be my 'burn' program , correct? Now I would need a program to import my music , and choose the songs to burn. I have Go Pro on my newer lap top to actually burn the music but no burner for the label/song list. My older lap top has the light scribe. Confused (my normal state of mind).

Try here

http://www.keynotesupport.com/pc/lightscribe-drive.shtml

It should answer some of your questions on lightscribe.

poppa

Thank you. I don't think I had everything for Light Scribe when I downloaded the software. I think I do now. I will try it later , now have 3 grandkids here and can not concentrate. Thank you for your time!

you dont need lightscribe.  I have always printed with inkjet printers with inkjet printable cds. I used to have to print thousands of cd's where I used to work, and at home I use $150 epson with a cd tray

poppa

I think I got it now. I designed a label with text and pics. Now I just have to move some of my music and try to actually burn one. Thanks for all the help!
