1969 Daytona Registry

I've reached a milestone, I've now been through all 166 pages here in the Aero section hunting down info.  The spreadsheet now represents what I could distill from a reasonable amount of looking.  I purposely did not construct any other material on the side like owner name histories or license plate history.  I've still tried to keep it about the cars and not the owners.  But a few owners seem to have out-shined their cars, Joe Dirt I'm looking at you.

I'd like to think that with publishing all this info the cars will not only recorded for history, but ultimately be better kept so that clones or rebodies don't get passed off as originals.  I've filled in the remaining VIN codes in column A and a google search will land on the spreadsheet.  At this point there is at least some basic info for all but 100 of the cars.  There are photos of 153 of them.

Thanks everyone that has helped and had input, directly on this project or indirectly through the forums.  Thanks to nascarxx29 for being on top of all things Daytona here for years.  Thanks to tan top for saving pics.  Thanks to Aero426, hemigeno, Mopar John, 69_500, C5X DAYTONA, Troy, held1823, and many more of you for keeping the history and stories of these cars alive.

Over the last few weeks I've found myself pleasantly surprised with the more outlandishly painted Daytonas.  Previously they 'weren't my thing'.  I really have ended up liking most all of the 70's paint jobs, though they must have been the 'bling' of the era!  Some iconic cars that have been restored back to stock seem kind of boring in a way.

On the flip side, I had to limit my re-reading of the OE Gold car threads because I absolutely get drawn in to the arcane level of detail, correctly dated parts, and factory/Creative process.  I also really like a 100% factory car.

I'll be checking over the work as best I can in the next few days.  Feel free to set me straight on any errors!

my own tag has seen better days.

interesting note about the car- dad worked for Chrysler at the time, and through work got wind of these cars being built. he told the dealership (where his '68 coronet r/t had come from) that he wanted one, and was told no problem, they'd get it for him. with so few being built, there was no discussion about colors, options, etc., as dad assumed it would be a "take what i can get" scenario. i have no idea if the car was ordered prior to allocation, or was simply diverted from one area to another. if the latter, it could as easily have been a hemi four speed car, but perhaps not been the best color combo, at least in my biased opinion.

XX29L9B355126 is duplicated as #132 and #154 on the ship list.

Is there any consensus about a correction to this?  And correct dealer/city for the corrected data?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this or not, but I just happened to stumble across an orange 69 Charger Daytona in the small town of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.  I would assume this car is accounted for in the registry, but in the rare instance it's not, I can ask the owner if he'd mind sharing the car's info with the registry.  The car is located at "Muscle Car Pit Stop", which is owned by Vince Jacob (not sure if he owns the Daytona, or if it's a customer car).  Anyway, just thought I'd share this here in case it's of interest to anybody.

Those discussions are from a Quebec forum that I participate in and is still active. The pictures with Mr. Duval standing next to the car are from a printed annual book, Le Guide de L'Auto, don't think the originals are still available...
As for the car, it was officially scrapped in Quebec after an engine compartment fire and lost some parts while at the scrapyard, the wing is supposedly still here... The shell then resurfaced as the red car with no wing or nose. It is still in Canada, being restored, I hear...

i'm just glad to see some headway on a more complete list. i started trying to build one years ago, but haven't had time to work on it for the last year or two.

the I.T. guy at work drives a scat pack challenger, and loves to talk mopar. We have batted around the idea of him creating a template that allows searching by individual codes, as well as adding color like i had on my old excel list. no idea if it will lead anywhere, so it's nice to help expand the effort here. for those who have never attempted to compile a list like jeff has done here, know that it is a daunting task.

jeff, once i have a chance to sort through 28,000 or so photos all dumped into one folder, i'm certain i have info on several more to send your way.

john, i need to catch up with you regarding our conversation from a year or so ago. should you recall the gist of it, it could be the time.

And - the IT guy is welcome to pull the google sheet info in to whatever searchable format/website/what-knot and update that as the google sheet fills in more.  It's all open source, that was part of the point of this.
