Widens over time drastically what would that mean?

I have the plugs in for 2k miles gapped at .045 then I took em out to inspect and they were .055 for all of them, minus the no. 1 that was flat  ::)

Your electrode is wearing, overheating spark plugs can cause the electrode to wear faster. Pre-ignition from an improperly timed engine can cause this, as can an incorrect air to fuel ratio(lean).

Post a clear picture of the plug

Gapped wrong to begin with.

Thought you were gapping with a Colt '45, turns out it was a Bud 55.  :pity:

I think I run mine at .50 but that's what MSD recommends

A383Wing

every time a plug fires, a little bit of each electrode, center & the ground, are worn off, thus making the gap larger

some of these newer cars require a .060" plug gap....so when the customer has not done any tune ups for over 100,000 miles, the center electrode is worn deep inside the porcelain of the plug
