What's your ceiling on price? I don't think I'd pay more than about $4500 for that one.

blackcharger

what's the interior like? You said it's local, have you seen it yet? Check it out very well, especially underneath. Didn't see anything in the pics posted that looked too bad. New 1/4s a Big +. I'd say $5000 without knowing more.

It's not the year you said you were looking for so dont over spend on it. But the fact that its local is a double bonus. You can see it before you bid and no huge shipping charges. ;D

well its either this that doesnt run or a 318 67 cuda fastback that i found, which im gonna check out on monday which is only 20 mins for me, its not that rusty in the quarters its got an auto on the floor white interior and they were gonna do a cam and lifters on it, but its runnin and drivin right now which is good. so i think if i bought this and did some work (cuda) that i could sell and get some more cash for the charger. what you think is better?

blackcharger

a lot depends on what you want. Is that '70 the year you want? I looked for a '69 for a long time, but couldn't find anything but a '68, which I had a blast with for 18 years. If it was me, I'd pass on the Cuda and go for the Charger. Big Block car with potental. Might not take that much to have it drivable.
Dave

generalfan01

yea thats what im thinkin now, plus i think this guy is gonna want alot for the cuda as i just got off the phone with him.

generalfan01

well im not to sure on that, he sounds ready to let me check it over throughly so ill still check it out cause i like the fastback, and i can sell to get a charger. plus i think its been stripped

A factory Sublime Charger...what's not to like? Go for it. You won't be sorry.  :yesnod:

i think the charger may be the way to go. if it looks good. the cuda would be cool, but you could find yourself saying" I should have would have  bought the charger". i know i would.

The VIN tag is pop riveted on, I'd look that car over very closely :scope: before laying down the green...

showing up (when you say you're going to) and checking out the car in person is a great sign to the seller that you're someone who's really interested in the car, and since you're local, you'd be less hassle selling to.  while you're there, try to get a feeling for his mood, and maybe make him an offer in person (reasonable offer).  he'd probably be just glad to get the car sold and not have to deal with email after email, waiting for checks or paypal, etc... I bought a car this way.

Only two cars to choose from?  you sound like a man who feels the need to buy something right now.  DONT.  just look at the amount of work that thing will need.  If you wait it out, you can find a better car to start with.  something that's at least a runner, not a used up parts car.

Show me some pics of that 67 fastback, and I could tell you if he's asking a fair price for it.  Since it has a 318, it's definatly not original, and, probably was a 273-2v like mine.

If value is what you want, go for the Charger.  Very few A bodies compare, value wise, to big block B bodies.  The 383, if it can be made to run, will be more fun than a 318.  Of course, if you are looking for a car you can drive NOW, and don't care about the value, then get the Barracuda, IF the price is fair.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

:iagree:   needs close inspection , but if it checks out and  the price doesn't get crazy  go for it . as (Burnt70R/T ) said

I noticed that as well. I guess it's possible someone wanted to rebody an XH Charger. Both tags are real though. You can even see that factory sublime peeking out at you.

i took pics last nite but my memory card got messed up on the camera so ill take more on monday when i check it out, (start it etc.) thanks for the imput!

If you decide on the Charger please PM the info on the 67 Fastback as My daughter is wanting a classic and a small block would be good for her and since graduation is in 2 months it may make a great gift.

I like the factory Sublime, if it was a 4-speed I might have to out bid ya !   :icon_smile_tongue:

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !

generalfan01

my dad doesnt want me to get the charger cause hes afraid it will be totally gutted and he thinks it will cost me alot more than i have to make it roadworthy, and i have a part time job so its gonna be hard, i need somthin the drives like this fastback.

dkn1997

If you are on a part time budget, you may want to consider a two door C body or an A body.  Decent ones can still be had for 5 grand.  Limited budget + Charger does not add up at all.  I would hate to see you spend all your cash on something and it never gets on the road.  You could learn a lot about mopars by buying one of these "other" body styles.  tons of parts interchange and you can still come here and ask questions.
